Does plasma in general offers more image brightness than CRT TVs? In particular, I'm think of buying a panny TH42PWD6UY. But I can't find any specifications about the image brightness (cd/m2). I have a brightly lit room and I can barely watch my CRT TV in the afternoon (no sunlight directly hit the screen. But the curtains are thin and light that don't block sunlight very well). I hope the plasma I'm going to purchase would do a better job than my current CRT TV on the brightness.

I just replaced a sony CRT with a pio plasma and the plasma is brighter. A lot brighter in fact. As a new plasma owner, I think this is one of the "unsung" attributes of this tech. The plasma does a lot better of a job with reflections as well.

edit: I'm not recommending the pio over the panasonic.
