At this point if anyone is looking for a "budget" plasma I would point them towards the Vizio for a few reasons:

1. 5000:1 contrast ratio
2. Can be had in most areas by a retail store, one in particular with an excellent return policy if you don't like it

The byDsign does seem to play a *little* nicer with the HDTivo via DVI, it only generates the over heat message if you change inputs, not if you turn the set off and on. (I believe people with the vizio said they get the overheat message if they turn the unit off or on.)
I also like the silver look, but thats just me. :)

Either way it sounds like both are decent sets, but if you want one right now it looks like Vizio is the only way to go for the moment, as the bydsign 42's are sold out.

I use the horizontal size in the menu to correctly fill the screen.

I didn't even realize that was an option. I just checked my TV and didn't see the option, which menu is it under?

FYI for anyone having the bogus overheat message, apparently theres an "F" update coming to the HDTivos to fix this problem. If you don't have a phone line hooked up, nows the time to do so.
