After reading here that Loki picked up his 42px60u at BB in NYC, I thought i'd stop by the local one here in the East Bay (Oakland/Emeryville). When I asked sales guy if he had the new Panny was told they aren't on display yet but he sold one yesterday. As he recalled, it was about what Loki paid in NYC. I told him he had a sale.
Went to his screen, it showed they had 74 in stock and could be delivered in a couple days - BUT - the price was a LOT more than MSRP. I said I wasn't about to pay hundreds more than MSRP. While he was doing all this, a plasma newbie was listening in and both sales person and I told him the specs weren't even up on the Panny site yet, much less BB's.

...mike (who is still waiting to buy)

Just got an email back from BB's web site sales staff saying they don't know when new products such as the 42px60u might be available at BB! :D

Thanks for this info. Good news!

Now, like everyone else, I wait for your "first impressions."

Exciting, isn't it?

Since there is no savings over buying locally - which I assume will be possible shortly, I will test my patience and wait.

Edit: Just noticed that further up this thread Cleveland Plasma mentioned he had these in stock. Must not have noticed it when I was reading the thread earlier.
Yeah, probably got 'em from BB in NYC :D

Cleveland Plasma currently has 2, TH-42PX60U sets on Ebay. The auction states that they have 5 in stock.

Hello everyone this is my first post. I have been looking at Plasmas for over a year and decided to buy a Panasonic yesterday based largely on what I have read on this forum. I was all set to buy a 50U but was told that the display is all they had at BB and they would knock off 10%. Since I have been looking on this thread for awhile I new the 60U was coming so I asked them to check on it. They had about 150 in the warehouse and the cost of the 60U was less than the 50U even with 10% off. The cost of the 60U was less through BB than the new MSRP being reported throughout this thread. My set will be in on Tuesday and can be picked up on Wednesday am. I am located in Tallahassee, FL by the way. Hope this helps people locate this set if they are interested. Thanks for all the good advice!

Looks like the 42" 60Us are the first wave. Anyone see any info about the 50" models at any of their vendors?

Very interesting, Greech.

I'm in Ohio and BB's price was above the suggested retail. Weird. I'm in the process of replacing a defective Zenith plasma and the new Panasonic and Pioneer 5061 are both on my short list. Hopefully I'll be back at BB and I'll recheck those Panny prices. My former Zenith went south near the end of January and I'm ichin' to replace it.

Report back here with an update and let us know what you think of that new 60u:)

As i mentioned earlier today, my BB was like yours. Mine was hundreds above MSRP. Have an idea - I think BB has a guantee price match policy of some kind. I'm going to call the local store and ask that they match - themselves!
Also, I wonder if I can buy thru BB in NYC or Talahassee andd pick it up here.

I stopped by one of the local CC stores here in the Bay area CA this Sunday to check if they had 42" 60Us. Well, they said they could order one, would take one or two weeks. However, their price was hundreds above the new $2499 MSRP. They said they could price match within 30 days of final delivery date.

Seems that CC and BB is trying to keep the prices up if there's bigger pre-demand... Is this common? --Kent

I just stopped by my local best buy in the NOVA area and was surprised to find out that they had the new Panny's in their local warehouse.

Since I was currently waiting on Tweeter to get them in (they told me a ship date of the 26th of this month) I went ahead and ordered one from BB.

They told me I should get it in this wednesday. Anyone else able to get one so soon? I am a little worried that it will turn out to be a 50U (since the price was the same as the current 50U's ... they did however knock the price down to the current known MSRP).

I guess I will have to wait and see :-)

I'm sure they check on each others price on a daily basis, if not hourly. :)

I have a reciept from BB today price matching it to the current known MSRP. Let me know if anyone wants me to take a photo copy in case they won't price match you.

I just told them Tweeter had it for less ... and I would just wait. They countered that since Tweeter didn't have it in stock they couldn't match.

I then told them that since BB didn't have it in stock either (they had to order it from the warehouse) then their argument wasn't valid. They bought that

If the PX60 Panasonics are showing up in stores, shouldn't the discussion of this be located in a new thread? This thread is titled "Panasonic announces.." and we are now moving beyond that stage.
