I have a question, that im getting mixed answers on here at my work. Is there a set resolution of 1080P content, such as the resolution should be 1920x1080. So if the TV set says it can accept 1080P but has a resolution of 1024x768 does it downconvert to native? The reason i ask is because my company got in a Panasonic 37in. Plasma (TH37PX60U) that says it has a Type A HDMI connector, but accepts 1080P content through it. Can someone straighten this out for me? Thanks, i read the FAQ of this area, but im still mixed up. Thanks

My understanding is that it will accept the 1080p signal and then downconvert it to display at the native resolution of the screen.

Yes, the resolution of 1080p is 1920x1080. All fixed pixel displays up- or downconvert all the signals that they can receive to their native resolution. HDMI Type A has sufficient bandwidth to carry 1080p. The limitations have been in the transceiver ICs and other parts of the signal path.
