I'm currently working on a 12" macbook and the small screen just isn't doing it for me for editing photos. I've heard a lot of people saying get the 27" iMac display but that happens to be way out of my budget. any other options out there?
The monitor is designed by Dell, manufactured by Foxconn and contains e-IPS panel from LG. Unlike the common brands, Dell offer "one hot pixel exchange policy" during the warranty period. In the UK, Dell offers next day on-site swap, but not sure about the U.S.

Monitors are often viewed at close range, so viewing angles matter. As you know, the closer you're to the panel, the greater the shift. The new e-IPS and H-IPS monitors only suffer from extremely minor gamma shift. It also provides more consistent image, which is easier on the eye especially when viewing web pages with lower tone color (e.g. gray background with white text).
When sitting closer the surface of the LCd screen TV becomes bigger, off-angle problems become more noticeable especially in a dark room with dark scenes. Standing in front of a 46 inch has a simular effect effect as sitting off-angle at viewing distance.
