Looking for a new 40"-43" flat panel after my ancient Sony Wega just died. Can't decide what to model to pull the trigger on, have been considering the following: Panasonic VIERA TC-L42U30 42-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV, Panasonic VIERA TC-P42S30 42-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV, and have been impressed with some Samsung's as well, a little underwhelmed by the LG's I have seen. Can't really find any info on the Panny U30 anywhere on the net. As the subject says, I mostly watch movies and TV shows, and not much sports or gaming. Don't want to spend a fortune, don't need 3D or internet, looking for a good bang for my buck.

I just got the TC-P42S30 for my bedroom and I'm very happy with it.

IMO if you're looking for best bang for the buck, it is a great choice. I checked out LCD sets, including LED backlit, but the plasma has a superior picture for less money.

It is certainly not as full featured as the G or V series, but it sounds like you are not looking for top of the line. Also with the new Panny plasmas, the G and V series do not come in a 42".
