Just a quick question: I'm about to get a new TV, and have decided a 55"-60" is the right size for my rec room. I'm a student so I don't have a ton to spend, looking to spend about $1k. Between my brother and I, the TV will be used quite a bit; gaming, live sports, and the occasional movie.
I've found four that caught my eye as likely high-quality TV's for a decent price, and I am wondering if anyone has some input on which way to go?
Philiips 55" LCD - 55PFL5706D - $765 (I can get it at a discount)
LG 55" LED LCD - 55LV4400 - $900 at a local retailer.
LG 60" Plasma - 60PV250 - $900 (I've never had a plasma before, but I don't have anything against em.)
Sharp 60" LCD - LC-60E79U - $999
I'm guessing these might be new-ish budget-line models, as I've had a tough time finding quality reviews on them, i.e. Cnet, etc. It's also really hard to finds 'release dates' for these, so I have no idea if a couple are a generation newer. So really I don't know: is the $1k 60" really $230 better than the 55" Philips..? Or is one of these is going to have much better picture quality? I've seen several at local electronic stores, but the lighting/environment/source quality varies so wildly it's hard to make any real assessment.
Any advice/input would be greatly appreciated!!
