Sale price at a local department store. It would be placed a very large and pretty bright (lots of windows) great room. I have not really considered plasma because I understood they weren't the best for bright rooms, that a LED would be better in that environment.

I had basically settled on the SONY KDL55EX500 for $1100 before this popped up, but the price and larger size of the LG has given me pause. I am now researching.

What do you folks think? The LG or the SONY? Plasma or LED/LCD?

The lg is a giant mirror with no ar coating. Get the LCD.

I had the 46" version of that Sony. Black levels are outstanding. If you search on this site for the owners thread, you will see where people bought and then returned the LED for this CCFL LCD. It's a goody.
