2017 sounds very optimistic. I hope you're right, however and it's possible that once the technology actually enters mass production (as opposed to whatever you want to call the current state of affairs, but please don't call it mass production) that things will begin to happen more quickly. The fact that the LCDs in question are still twice your goal and OLEDs are 4x good LCDs with 1/4 the resolution gives me caution on saying 4 years is doable.
But that said, I'll buy one happily that soon.
There is no difference in HDMI cables. If you can see the picture without visible dropouts or sparklies, the cable is working at 100%. No other cable will display a better version of that picture. You're simply wrong if you think there is a better digital cable than one that is already working. (Oh, and plasma didn't die because of logistics problems, nor does OLED ship in big boxes because it comes from Korea.)
