What shootout. I've read many reviews and all confirm they would keep the Samsung over the lg Oled.
It's not even debatable now that we know how the lg Oled performs.

This one: http://www.cnet.com/news/lg-wins-val...shootout-2014/

You sure do speak with a lot of absolutes.

There is no RGB OLED TV from Samsung to even purchase anymore, so the comparisons you constantly bring up are bordering on useless.

Calibrators pick was the Samsung s9c.
Did you not read that bit.

The ec930 is a disgrace to Oled TVs

I did. The subjective is every bit as important once you get it home. The blacks are still black, the colors are not that far removed (cyan error?), and the 9300 affords you a wider angle before the S9C distorts that more accurate color. Please stop the hyperbole.

AFAIK the Samsung has none of the near black problems that plague the LG OLEDs. That alone is enough for me to agree that in terms of picture quality it's the best OLED TV released so far.
I expect Samsung to raise the bar with whatever they have planned for 2017/2018.

They've got RGB experience thanks to their mobile business. They have to come to grips with using WOLED with which they have no experience and, I suspect, similar backplane deficiencies. Because Samsung doesn't quite convince me they'll come out the gate ahead of LG (who aren't exactly sitting still either). The estimates for those to arrive are (nearly) two years at best.

I don't recall anyone ever putting the Samsung through the 0-5% IRE, long-exposure, camera torture testing that people have been subjecting the LG models to. If any owners are still around, I would love to see those images posted to prove the supposed "superiority" of this TV.

I only know from a german Samsung OLED owner that tried several EG9600 and EF9500. The last EF9500 that he returned was due to the piss stain.

Is there a test disc with 0-5% full field patterns?

When you mention a cyan error, I'm reminded of the Sharp Elite, which never got that problem fixed to my knowledge.

I took these with an old cell phone camera which distorted the images but basically reveals an even shade with no dark blotches. As I moved higher up, I noticed a reddish tint, mostly at 30-35 IRE. I will need a better camera with longer exposure for 5% patch.

Thanks for having the courage to post those pics. I know most owners do not want to search for issues with their set.

Let's wait for some clear images below 5% before jumping to that conclusion.

At what gray level do the LG uniformity problems start? Are they even visible above 10%?

Thanks Wizz. I'm not sure others are afraid to post. They may simply find it unnecessary. Not saying the S9C is superior, just that there has never been a report of dark borders or patterns, like on the LG models. Isn't that what got all this near black uniformity thing started?

Yes, I suspect there just aren't that many owners participating here (the rest of the few owners remaining are simply enjoying it). That 5% depiction appears to show zero blacks (or quite close) on my Toshiba laptop LCD screen, significantly darker than when I've seen same posted depicting LG WOLED uniformity. 10% can actually look nearly as good as that on some of the better LGs, but I'm not sure about relative brightness level correlations here. Your 10% may in fact more closely resemble 5% on LG WOLED when brightness is set using the AVSHD disc.

It's too bad that manufacturing method is DOA for the sizes in question.

Maybe that's really the reason no one wants to post images, a screen shot at 5% stimulus is tricky. My Galaxy 3 mini can't do it. 10% and 15% looked like a close match to me, so I posted those. There's also some discoloration in the images that is not on the actual screen. So really not good images.

I will try it again soon, with a better cam.

Don't know if I can hold out that long, 4K movies with HDR, WCG and new audio formats are on store shelves now.
