Have never seen people here that say they will never buy a LG product again, compared to Samsung tvs that stop working just after the warranty expires.

i called lg today to see if they had heard of this issue, she said yes
but the only thing she could offer it a tech to come out and at this point, something i dont think is necessary

she thought it had something to do with a powerboard, but wasnt completely sure with her answer. she said its a fairly new product
I told her Ill wait till the last month of the warranty, then call, she lol

I don't know what it looks like because I always shut them down. In the console settings, there is a configuration called Screen Saver. Check it out.

I'll have to tell that to my 2 Samsungs that are still working after the expiration of their warranty. Maybe they didn't read the fine print?

Guys, the corporation battles are pointless. Bottom line is every company has products that work and products that don't. 9/10 times the people who were just randomly unlucky with one brand over another are those that dislike said brand, and rightfully so, but realize everyone has a completely different experience. As for the L(ow)G(grade quality) remark, let's face it every last tv on the market has horrible nonexistent QC, this one included (though I'm sure some people will be disagreeing, that's the point I'm trying to make) and every brand banks on its buyers not giving a crap or not knowing the difference.

Personally I haven't experienced the bug yet but I'm sure I will eventually if it's this widespread.

I'm glad your Samsung tvs are working fine. I just remembered the Samsung capacitor issues: http://www.cnet.com/news/samsung-power-defect-causes-some-tvs-to-fail-and-a-class-action-suit-follows/
"A defective capacitor in some Samsung LCD, plasma and DLP TVs is causing the sets to fail."

Does it go away if you view full screen material for awhile?

So it does show up on the slides but I have to actively seek it out, my camera isn't good enough to really pick it out on the bright colors. But the wierdest thing is that I just realized it's above the line of letterboxed movies....so now I got no clue what caused it. Maybe it was there out of the box??

Vinnie97, one of the kindest, most helpful and respected members here, got one of these. I wonder how much longer before we all get such a message...

Personally, I don't sit watching TVs over 3 hours straight. 1 or 2 hours max.

Having the tv crash while using an app is not that surprising - that's likely a bug in the app. That's why I suggested unplugging the network entirely while debugging this issue. But having a TV crash while using it as a dumb display is a different story - especially if you're not even touching the remote when it happens. In all the hours that plague and vinnie have put on their sets, they should have easily run into this problem if it was a bug in the firmware shared by all owners.

As I previously suggested, I would try running the set at reduced brightness to see if it helps. Since this set uses an ABL circuit, maybe it's not working properly on some sets and causing it to exceed the limits of the PSU on bright scenes.

On another forum, owners were talking about panel drivers that become visible with use(one member is getting his replaced by lg because of this)
Looks exactly like a pic of my tv below, can anyone see if they also have this
Tv performs like normal, I can only see these with the lights on

Mine is like that. The display model in the store was the same way. The salesperson said that is just how they hold up the screen. I thought it was tape the whole time.

Mine is the same from day one. Just a matter of how and where you look at it. Not a problem for me. Can hardly tell it's there from 3 feet away.

I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking at or what a panel drive is
You can see on the right, there is some black that appears to be receding? Also, looks like there is a bar code in there
Then, you can see a wave of material from right to left, the wave goes across the full panel and the left hand side looks just like the right
Not sure if this is going to effect performance or longevity, but according to a poster on another board, lg is willing to repair
If it doesn't effect the factors above, I couldn't care less
