Funny you say that. I'm returning the warranty today after reading it.

Watching a lot of YouTube videos recently on the TV and found out it is quite buggy. After watched a video or two, the You Tube app will typically act out and refuse to play next video. I have to exist the app or sometimes turn off the TV to recover.

happened to me a few times as well
also i dont know if its youtube or the tv software, but it seems like the amount of videos to browse through has gone down(for example, if i have 75 new videos in my subscriptions, it will only show 20 where before, it seemed to show more if not all)

This seems to be a property of the latest plastics (perhaps?) I've never understood it. A potential etching by the urea/hydrocarbon in skin oil, or some molecular bonding of the same? Seriously, people are horrendously annoyed by it, seems a common complaint, and I know someone who had a kid do this to a TV and mild detergent+MF cloth did not get it out no matter what she did.

Grow milkweed. The Monarch Butterfly requires it, and its numbers are dwindling fast.

The software on this TV is rubbish, it is good enough for changing picture settings. Anything more complex and I'll prefer to use AppleTV, Playstation or any other input.

The onscreen menu even seems to run at a sub 1080p resolution. Pretty embarrassing for what used to be a $6000 TV.

I have used Netflix and YouTube apps on my BD players and Xboxes. I have to say, the Netflix app is quite nice and a little bit of faster in UI navigation on this TV than the counter parts of my Sony BD player and Xbox 360 as well as Xbox One. The YouTube app is slower and buggy compared to the other platforms. The reason I use the TV app is to minimize the need to power up other devices (and the waiting for power ups) when I just need a quick access to those videos). The Netflix app seems to be ok (although crashes do happen when I watch multiple videos but not as much as YouTube).

netflix has worked flawlessly for me, youtube, not so much
i dont have that many issues with the tv, but the issues i have had have been with youtube freezing up(or slowing) and amazon movie streaming not going back to the home page when i finish a movie, so i have to click out of the app menu, then get back into it
i will say the software is better than my 2012 panny plasma

I've actually had as much success with a microfiber cloth and breathing on the affected area.

Well this will become much more important with the UHD OLEDs. The reason is that if you want, for example, 4K Netflix, you generally must use the app on the display since a Netflix app on say a BD player, will not have the necessary codec to be 4K compatible.

Hopefully LG gets this sorted out with the UHD displays.

The new LG TVs all switch over to use WebOS (2014+) as app platform. So hopefully, this brings better memory management and stability to apps.

So is there any owner who is not having image retention and/or burn-in problems with this set?

I saw on the other forum that one of the early owners in this thread is still having huge problems removing IR from letterbox bars and even LG's own TV menus.

I was offered this clearance model for $1700 locally but since I watch a ton of content with static logos, tickers, etc. I'm hesitant to try it even at that low price.

If you don't have problems, how many hours do you have on the set and can you describe your content by percent usage.

Thanks.

I think it's important to note that the user in your post is switching to gray scale slides to see the ir

I have not seen any ir, other than some brief lb ir and I also had to look for it on a gray slide
I haven't been looking lately, so I can't say what's on a gray slide but I haven't seen any ir with content
Aprox 400 hours on the set

$1700 is an amazing price for this set. See if they would let you run slides and check for any issues. IR is something that will get much better as the panel ages, I wouldn't be super concerned about it. Varying your content wthin the first few hundred hours will help, for that price it's an easy trade off IMO for those inky blacks and unmatched contrast.

I'm really tempted to jump on one of these with the firesale pricing going on once again...Problem is I just returned my 65X950B and moved my KRP-600M back to my man cave / theater room and picked up a used KRP-500M for my living room. It would probably be a waste of money though, but I could always return it in 30 days...

Well seeing how this OLED de-throwned the Kuro's I do not think it would be a bad choice....... To each his own though.

Yesterday, while at BB, I was looking at their 9800. That set had been playing "Gravity" for many weeks and nothing else. I switched on the LG menu to see if there was evidence of IR/Burn-in at the LB line of demarcation. I really had to look very very hard to see the slightest shading at the point where the LB bars begin. I was staring so hard, I wasn't even sure I was actually seeing any evidence of IR.

To be honest, I was surprised as I was expecting to see very visible IR given this set is showing a LB movie from opening to closing, 7 days a week.

I actually think it is the opposite and no one is really having any problems with IR. The few that have mentioned it said it went away in a matter of minutes. I would be careful for the first 100 hours or so, but unless you watch ESPN 24/7 and noting else you should be ok. That is a nasty price. I would check using slides as others have mentioned. If there is no problem you are probably in a better position since the TV is aged and less susceptible.

I'm tempted. Debating $2k for the 9800 or waiting until the 65" 4k reaches a $3-4k price point. bleh.
