The 77 looks more affordable than ever now too then I would imagine.

I said almost These are the prices for Sweden now. You have to think of 25% VAT here in Sweden too.

This is my new TV. Going to pick it up while its still the curved edition - i think it will improve the side reflection issue I currently have with my flat panel.

Just need to see some good reputable calibration reports and I think I'm ready for an early christmas.

you called us a price! EA9800 was $2000 at microcenter for about week. I know it's not everyday's price, but the difference between US and Europe. You won't never ever find such deal in Europe

didn't manage to get one. I've been assuming the 77 will be around 10k also, or at least can be had for that within a year of release. My problem is the WAF more than price for that size. She feels it will mess with the aesthetic of the room if I go bigger. For a large projector setup I would need to get one of the concept screens that comes out of the floor so you don't see anything 'ugly' overhead to get WAF in that direction (california isn't big on basements unfortunately). Oh well, at least she is onboard with the PQ and $$ - in fact, its awesome watching her get excited about the 55" OLED in store.

US MSRP of $9000 has just been leaked for the 65EC9700: http://www.geek.com/news/lgs-65-inch...ulous-1600864/

More importantly, you can already pick up the 65EC9700 for a pre-release street price of $6250!

There is one other item that is coming out that I would rather have, it is being released in Jan 2015 . If I could get this item right now or the 65EC9700 right now, I am afraid the other item would win....

Probably not unless you want to go halfer's I will split one with you......Hard to believe they made a corvette better than the ZR1. The Z07 goes far beyond a Z06 in HP, the chassis is 70% firmer, magnetic suspension, and probably a carbon fiber braking system. ( I rather be taking about burnishing in my brakes than breaking in a TV )

The money is all coming from the Japanese government and Japan Display. I believe Sony and Panasonic are only contributing their OLED assets. The setup is very similar to the one that originally set up Japan Display (which has been fairly successful).

I could not help myself from LMAO as I agree with most of it. Curve is OK but it sure as heck should not cost more. 4K is going to be a failure, maybe 8K will be the answer. I absolutely disagree with LCD as a bad technology. The 900B is an Incredibly Good display as was my XBR8. Edge lit without local dimming does suck.

Plasma should not be going away, it is WAY better than most LCD sets being sold

LCD is definitely sub-par compared to plasma, CRT, and OLED, so CNET is correct, IMO. Is LCD a complete load of trash? No, not really. But it certainly is quite sad that it's the dominant display technology.

I don't see how 4k will be a failure. Sure, for most people they won't really see that much of a difference in their home but they sure as hell see it when standing inside a retail store. Couple that with simple marketing "4 times the resolution of 1080p," (everyone knows what that means and it's simple to understand) and people are sold. As soon as the price reaches that $1500 - $2500 sweet spot (which they pretty much already have here in Canada) and there's some actual content to watch, I don't see how anyone looking at a new TV won't pull the trigger.

This from the guy that was raving about 4K a few weeks ago...but that's when he had a UHD display. Pass the Tylenol please.

So do you think the LG OLED LG 65EC9700 will be any good? How is LG as a brand? With a release of mid sept, surprised that the major retailers have not offered a pre-order.
