Well the LG EC9300 OLED has a 10-bit panel that might help in the uneven grays.

Also I read that the EC9300 comes with 500cd brightness vs the 350cd of the EA9700-9800.

As a gamer Im a bit worried the extra hz and motion technologies of the EC9300 adds some flickering to the picture, like the scanning backlight on my LG LCD LED. Well if game mode disables all those motion technologies I will have no issues.
Pretty sure your manual doesn't mention anything about OLED. Unless you just bought a LG LCD and they put this in all of the manuals. Not to say you shouldn't be skeptical. But at least take the minute to go read the manual before assuming it's identical to what you have read...

"The 55EC9300 is now available in the US for $4,999 - it will ship in August 2014 (update: at Best Buy it's cheaper at $3,999). I've read in some places that the EC9300 panels are made in LGD's M2 Gen-8 mass-production fab, but I have no any real evidence that this is true."

LG has pulled this set from their web page? Maybe the vendors complained about not being able to move current sets with early advertisement for the new one?

There is really no need for a LG OLED to be in a shootout, or any other competition, it will win, there is nothing else even close............

Unfortunately we don't have a "magnolia section" at any of our local BB's. Nearest one is Ann Arbor. 2.5 hours away. And I'm not going clear over there just to look at a TV. I am very tempted to pre-order one of these, sight unseen. It's that or a HU9000 which I can see.

Any new OLED owners plan on swapping for the new model? Curious to see if the new specs actually equal performance upgrade.

Do you think there will be a noticeable picture performance difference with the 2013 model? There is no way to improve black levels so any improvements will be in color (I don't see how) or motion (would be nice).

Greatly reduced ABL, 240Hz. Let's hope LG solved the gray uniformity imperfection and the "backplane memory" ir. The new model is also 10-bit=better color transitions, smoother color. I had a Sharp LE700 10-bit, and I noticed the difference with my old 8-bit Sharp LCD.

I believe the 240Hz might not be true! some post it as a spec and others state 120Hz. The uniformity in grey scale would be nice not not as it is as much as an issue but it feeds the Wolves. I would be surprised if the 10 bit panel will make a huge difference as this is not a 4k set bit it sure could. Memory IR is another thing I do not feel is a problem yet it would again be less food for the Wolves. The 10bit panel might help with grey scale uniformity, I read one article that pointed to the 8 bit panel being the cause. Maybe so as all the 900B use 8bit panels and have a similar problem.

I wonder why none of those specs are listed on LG's website. The only confirmed upgrade I see is webos. For all we know, it could be the same panel with some firmware tweaks.

I don't trust any data posted by retailers because they frequently include errors or mix up specs of different models.

The spec sheet mentions 10-bit.

The power consumption numbers are different enough that it is very unlikely that it is the same panel.

Nobody has seen more panels than you and I agree with you 100% nothing comes close to OLED .

i really need a better camera to truly capture what my eyes see with OLED

Good news Ken:

It seems the EC9300 will be a 240Hz tv instead of the 60Hz of current LG OLED.

Also about ABL: ALMA says this: "For me ABL reduction only to 200cd/m² (white picture) is very good and more than enough. Even in daylight I never need more than that (100-150cd/m² is fine for me) and also in stores it´s bright enough to compete with LCD. 500cd/m² is also comparable to LCD maximum brightness. LG´s OLED first generation looks very good in stores against all the LCDs around it. Colors are bright and pop, high contrast, perfect black level, much better viewing angle, even in well lit stores" also: "I can´t really see a problem here with the 200cd/m² limitation for a white screen. Currently Plasmas only reaches 40-60cd/m² and it´s 110cd/m² more than the 2013 OLED generation."

Yeah I hope LG solves the temporal ir.
