Loewe unveils its first OLED TV, price starts at 4990 Euro

Loewe has unveiled its first OLED TV called bild 7. It will be available starting in September in 55 and 65-inch sizes for 4990 and 6990 Euro, respectively.

Loewe VantaVision OLED TV
Loewe’s first OLED TVs will be capable of reproducing Ultra HD resolution. The company makes no mention of HDR (high dynamic range) but it seems likely that HDR will also be supported since the TVs will be based on OLED panels from LG.Display.

The German TV manufacturer will make its first OLED TV part of a new line called VantaVision. This OLED TV has been named bild 7 and is just 7 mm thick, slimmer than most smartphones. Loewe further says that it has opted for the finest materials and a high level of finish. The connectors and cables on the rear of the TV are concealed by a type of fabric.

Germany also has an 19% VAT (MwSt) built into their prices. This is sort of hard to conceptualize for a person used to paying US state sales tax. Back out 19% and you'll see a better comparison.

Isn't Loewe kind of like a Bang and Olufsen type company? Not really surprising.

I'm trying to figure now how many manufacturers have or will be in the next year making an OLED

We've got the lone Samsung, all the LG's, the Panasonic, the Philips, the Loewe, B&O, Skyworth, and possibly a Changhong. That's a good handful of companies, of course all but the Samsung use LG panels and all except LG seems to be a one time only model just so they can say they made an OLED tv. When will somebody finally have the balls to go up against LG and make their own panel?

you are so lucky to be living in US...

Prices that we have to pay (in EU) for our OLEDs:

LG 65G 8500 € (9400 $)
LG 65E 7500 € (8300 $)
LG 55E 5500 € (6000 $)
LG 65B 6000 € (6700 §)

As you can see, Loewe and Metz OLEDs (same prices as Loewe) are cheaper that LG.

And yes in 2017 when B&O unveils their OLEDs they won't be cheap - not even for you ;)
