Sony A1E 4K HDR OLED TV at CES 2017

The Sony A1E 4K HDR OLED is a marvel to behold, and the screen doubles as the speakers.

I don't think the rumor on pricing 2k for 55" and 3k for 65" is going to happen

I would be surprised if they're priced that low. Maybe the Sony 4K set I bought in October wasn't such a badly timed purchase after all.

They will be higher than LG's prices, they will be buying the screens from LG.....LG is going to have to produce more panels, during the holiday season a month ago LG virtually sold out inventory nationwide of all models of OLED.

This is looking like it will be a great TV. I am glad I held off on all of the great Christmas deals. I know everyone is waiting to see what kind of price range/release dates the different models will have. The sound using the glass does not really concern me because I will not be using the sound from the TV.

But, can you achieve stereo sound from a single pan of glass?

It turns out, you can; the demo I heard today was pretty impressive, including the sound following things moving from one side of the screen to the other. Of course, an outboard sound system is better, but this is surprisingly good.

Awesome. Thank you for the hands-on feedback Scott. I am now going to spend the next few hours of my life learning about this technology on the internet, LOL.

He even said in the latest Forbes article that the pricing he was given is now incorrect and the price is going to be more.

Well I "Think" I have finally found the tv that's going to replace my Beloved Sony 55inch W900A. From what I have saw online ect the new OLED tv from Sony look's beautiful and the 55incher is in my plan's but what I'm going to wait for is more in-depth review's and pricing which I know wont be cheap. But this is what I have been hoping and waiting for from Sony. But there is no doubt this will be my next tv.

How does it mount to the wall? Do you need a proprietary mount?

Embedded in the stand behind the cover is apparently a VESA mount.

My understanding is that neither LG or Sony support 3D with their OLEDs = no sale to me. I have the 65" E6 and the 3D is very, very good. I was hoping for a 77" OLED but it looks like a 75" Sony Z9 if I were to replace the 940D I also have. The 3D on the 940D is terrible; however, I've read that the Z9 has pretty good 3D.

Either Sony or LG should have kept 3D to differentiate one from the other and offer more choice in the OLED marketplace.

I'm glad to see a display without an ugly soundbar stuck to it. It will be interesting to see the prices and the reviews of all the 2017 OLEDs across the manufacturers.

This might be the year I upgrade from my 60" Pioneer Kuro.

It is really too bad that OLED was not on the shelf yet when 3D launched years ago. I wonder if people's opinion of 3D would have been affected and it would still be an option.

I do believe that there will be a 4k 3D revival after the new Avatar movies.

I think this looks like the best OLED TV. That sound bar killed it for me.

In fact why don't these companies release a bare bones monitor style OLED screen? Stop wasting money and resources on gimmicks.

That being said, the 55" would be amazing in the bedroom with a soundbar lol...

If the entire tv vibrates like a speaker, is anyone concerned on the potential effect on tv longevity?

Was hoping I could upgrade my 10 year old, 65", Panasonic Plasma to a 77 inch OLED this year. Doesn't look like it's happening if price rumors are true. Guess I'll have to be patient and wait a couple years till they drop to around $5k.

I think the problems with 3D stemmed from complexity and having to wear glasses. Not so much from image quality. Everyone I know who watched 3D liked it, but I had everything setup for them.

Extremely unlikely since LG removed the 3D filter from their panels.
