It's hard to find tech support like that today, Apple is one of the few as well as some high end US audio manufactures.
Absolutely. As the chat started I could tell I wasn't talking to someone who knew what I was talking about. They were very nice but the stock replies can get annoying.

Guess i am gonna take a chance with the Sony 65" OLED. Any tips when i first power it up? I just plan to run it in with BD's and full screen with my SPACE1999 BD's. Will also watch some cable and over the air Just plan to use the OTA RF input and two HDMI inputs and a Optical out input.

Congrats on your decision.

Check both this thread and the Owner's Thread. There have been several discussions about initial power-up and settings to consider -- not a lot has changed since those were documented. Of course there are many POVs, but as you'll find upthread, I didn't do anything special with my A1E upon first power-on, and am not disappointed with my decision. I didn't play certain content or run hours upon hours of slides like some seem to think is important. I simply enjoyed normal content for hours each day, tried a bunch of things with settings to get oriented, and started watching old DVDs and Blu-rays -- in addition to new 4K HDR versions -- both in glorious resolution and color, as I kept tally on my hours until it's first calibration.

Enjoy.

I don't ever do slides. It would take me years to run the hours up as i only have about 3000 hours on my 60vt60 after 4 years. But plan to try and get 200 hours in a short amount of time.

I did read where auto updates can turn on the tv and get burn in. That sure is scary. Just be nice to go back to a simple tv with no smart stuff. Just give me a great pic and leave the 3D and all the smart stuff out.

That's right. If you are concerned about that possibility (if it still exists after the last update) like I am, it's an easy setting to turn auto updates off. Then, you can manually cause an update when you find notice an update by following this forum. As much as I love to pursue perfection, in the bigger scheme of things, its not a bid deal to me.

Are you sure? I've never had an LG OLED turn on immediately after or during an update. After I turn on the TV, only then does it tell me an update occurred. I'd find it strange that the Sony acts differently.

Hello Everyone,
Just going to keep this simple.
PC Richard is replacing my XBR930D because of the Purple Ghost issue.

I am going to put the credit towards either the Z9D or the A1E.
Either TV is going to be great for me I just don't want to have to deal with image issues again so..

Just want to know if there ANY known defects/issues similar to what happened with my XBR930D.

(Going to make the same post in the Z9D thread)

The Sony CT 790 soundbar works perfectly w/A1E. HDR compliant the arc function also performs beautifully. Good Luck!

I would say Z9d if you don't want the burn in issue on 5K sony OLED, if you need OLED get LG and save money. due to Burn in issues perspective only.

Is pointing the remote control very picky with the Sony? I will have a center speaker just under the TV and while in bed it could be a problem blocking the remote. On my VT60 i have no problem as it is now.

Sometimes it seems like I need to point right at the lower center of the TV to make it work. I'd say something blocking it might be a hassle.

You need to check oled burn in thread, do you really think I will mislead AVS member; when everything can be verified with in forum, I own oled and that is my opinion between those two sets comparison (z9 and A1e).

Yes, it seems a little more limited vertically and horizontally than some other electronics devices I own, but YMMV of course. The censor is below the frame in the lower center area where the indicator light is.

At this point, I suspect you've tried all you can constructing your custom stand ahead of having the A1E, assuming you go forward with either a 55" or 65" this week. If I were you, I'd just plan that you may need to do a few tweaks to your stand once it arrives. Good luck!

Had my Sony A1 for a couple of days now. Does anyone else notice a yellowish tinge vertical strip about 4cm wide on the left side? It's very noticeable when there's a white scene.

Since then it will never complete. I've been asking for weeks but everyone is afraid to run it idk. LMK if you happen to try it.

Thanks
Just to keep you updated, I started a warranty claim so I can get some answers as to why this is not working. Hopefully they know about the issue. I also want to know about the factory IR I have. I have no desire to rerplace the unit at this point. I only want to run the cycle to see if the persistent IR goes away and then make a decision.
