"Premium Certified" cables are recommended for all usages in this day and age to avoid these types of issues. Inexpensive on mono price.

I haven't bothered yet, I have old cables that all seem to be fairly well built so far. At least in my high-BW chains anyway.

C7 definitely since it looks better and has a black bezel which will dissapear in a dark room to provide an immersive experience

No, RGB does not give chroma options like 4:4:4, 4:2:2 or 4:2:0 only YCbCr. RGB only haa one choice and is 8-bit only. I can provide a screenshot this evening if you want to see the options in the Nvidia control panel.

I agree on the black bezel looking better than the B7's. However, as I noted earlier, if you're planning on using the stand it completely negates the "immersive experience" as it reflects light from the panel. Perhaps a black felt covering would help. Of course, wall mounting solves the problem...

It seems HDR Effect mode on SDR content at 1080p 120Hz also exhibit the same gamma issue as explained in my previous posts. So this conclusively limits the bug to LG's firmware instead of Windows or Nvidia. I am not sure if the HDR standards specifies for a fixed gamma curve but LG if you see this, please unlock the gamma option for HDR/HDR Effect or fix the 1.9 gamma in 120Hz mode, thanks. The issue has already been verified and reported on major reviews site Rtings.com.

I agree completely. And if you wall mount it the C7 will completely dissapear in a dark environment. Actually i realise that this was one of the benefits of the Sony A1E since it has no stand to take away from the experience, but if someone is going to wall mount the TV then that advantage of the A1E is gone since even the C7 won't have a stand when wall mounted, you won't need to attach the stand right?

Thanks so much for the reply. Looks like I need to make a bit of a judgment call.

Another question for everyone:

If I've got this 1080p switch and appropriate cables hooked up to last gen game consoles, is there any reason I need to upgrade the switch or cable to connect to a C7? Shouldn't it pass the 1080p signal just fine for upscaling by the set?

EDIT: And speaking of switches, this one should be good enough to get the most of the C7, right?

If you don't mind me asking, which Youtube video are you using to check your screen? I just received my 65 C7 on Saturday and so far its beautiful, but I would like to give it a more thorough checking.

Search for 5% Black OLED and you'll get it.

If that's a 65" it looks great. Can you tell us the manufacturing date of your set? According to D-Nice, some manufacturing improvements have been made to minimize the vertical banding and those modules may now be appearing in retail inventories.
Thanks

So the replacement is done. It was quick and looks like a brand new panel. Anyway here's a shot with no hours on it. Running a comp cycle now while at work so not sure what it will look like until I get home. To be honest, the right side vignetting looks exactly the same so I doubt it wil clear much more than it looked on my other panel. I didn't have time to blackout the room completely so it may look a better than I'm describing.

I guess the question is, will it be better......? Most feel the 7's are far better then 5TH and 6TH generation units.

looks rough man, but things should clear up a bit after first cycle.

those 2 dark bands to the right of the center are similar to what i'm fighting on mine except i only have one. but it's pretty noticeable in real content like soccer or hockey.

Ran a second manual cycle before i left for work this morning and will run a standard cycle when i get home and check again. My panel has cleaned up considerably aside from that one dark line to the right of the center on mine, thank god no vignetting.

Yeah I have no clue what it will look like when I get home except it should look a bit better. I'm really disappointed in the vignetting I'm seeing. It really looks no different from the last. If it stays, which I'm pretty sure it will, I don't see me owning this TV much longer...whatever that means.

try a b7 if this doesn't work out.

*shrug* got 3 months to return at costco so I will let it cycle a bunch and do its thing. my b7 looks tons better than my e7 did.

I think I struck gold on my B6 last year, no banding or vignetting, but the ABL on 2016 models and prior was atrocious... 2017 ABL is very very very good comparatively. I don't think I've even seen ABL at work in a letterbox movie yet on a 2017 model. A 2017 model with no vignetting or banding seems like it'll be good enough to keep for years until oled can fill out HDR specs with 4000 nit peaks, and rec2020 color.

yea all costco products have 90 return policy, no questions asked. feels good to be able to have time to break in... And also to allow for supply to flow with newer build dates at the end of the return cycle should someone exercise the right to do so.

I took a pic of what I thought was a serial number to find a build date but can't make heads or tails out of it.

Should be something like a 307 at the front or maybe 407 or 507

first number is month, third number is year, 7 = 17

If they only replaced the panel I'm not sure you'll have a serial number that matches what we expect to see on the sets. That sticker you have looks like the one I have on my replacement panel. But since they didn't actually changed the set it's the same serial as before and same TV, from the set's perspective, you know.

I'm not sure we can find info that relates to build date on a replacement panel?
