I still love my 30" Sceptre. If I could find a place for it I would purchase a second one.

I have the 30" Sceptre and notice clay face sometimes. I'm using standard def with tw cable. The hd picture might be good on this set, but regular viewing is sub par! Anyone else have tw cable and notice the same issues?

2 months into it and
I have one of the new versions of the Sceptre 30 and the Standard Def is incredible on it compared to the other HDTVs I have had as well as friends.
The HD on it is also incredible and 1024x768 from HTPC is the best picture I have ever been able to get from my HTPC.

I am very happy with my purchase.

antilamr,
How are you connecting to the display?

windmiller,
Don't you mean 1280X768?

Guys, my neighbour just got a brand new LG DU-37LZ30 37" LCD panel. Beautiful design! I helped him to calibrate the display. After calibration was complete, we put the LG and Sceptre side by side and compared the picture: man, this little Sceptre beats hands down the LCD panel that is aboutt three times its price. Especially in dark scenes where LG tends to produce bluish greys, Sceptre really shines there. Also, LG seems to produce soft picture, as if a blur effect is applied to the video signal. Sceptre in comparison produces sharp and focused picture. For a budget panel this is more than expected. Well done Sceptre. The only thing going for LG is its design. Man, I loved that sexy channel indicator under the screen. Resembles Sony displays design-wise.

There are prices for the Syntax 30" that are ridiculously low right now.

I'm considering this TV but it would be used a lot as a console gaming television. Anyone have direct experience with HD Xbox gaming and PS2/Gamecube etc.

Please let me know how it performs and if it looks great.

Netman & Taurus:

I'm connected directly with coax to LCD. I don't have a digital box for the bedroom where the tv is so it's being fed analog signal.

Anybody figured out a way to get to service menu on this yet?

Anyone done a calibration yet and if so would you mind sharing your settings?

Thanks in advance

I never found a service menu; not sure anyone has. I only used the set with the built in receiver a few times and found the picture good but other were less impressed as I remember. I use a MyHD for analog TV (a VGA connection from the MyHD to the display) and the picture is very good. HD looks fantastic and DVDs are great. Make sure your saturation is not set too high. If you can borrow the digital box form elsewhere see how that works. Keep in mind that my best settings for brightness and contrast are far from center (VGA input)

Doubt this will help but my settings:

contrast 42
Bright 4
red 172
green 161
blue 64

Thanks Netman. I'll check my settings this weekend when I have a chance to watch some more tv. I also have my computer hooked up via svga connection. The colors are lighter and not as deep as the picture on my 20" agfa monitor. I use it to watch divix & xvid movies on my 30".

I hope you get it setup to your liking but if you can't you should send it back. No reason you should keep it if your not happy with it.

how do you guys rate the 32'' Sceptre and 32'' Maxent at Costo? I am also looking at 32'' Philips but the price difference of over $500 is making me re-think

if your thinking about the philips you should also look at the sharp for the same price

that philips is odd looking with the on/off indicator on the speaker....i think that would bug me to death
