Here is the same old story........I have been searching this forum trying to decide on my second plasma for my bedroom. I was all set to get the Panny HD 7uy then I stumbled onto this, the LG MU42PM12X from AVStore. It looks like a steal and their shipping cost is ridiculous low. With the savings when compared with the Panny I could buy my speakers and reciever. There have been bits and pieces on the LG plasmas but nothing substantial on this particular panel. I would like to stick with a familiar company so the LG MU42PM12X seems like a great deal. I'm asking the brotherhood here for a little help. What are your thought on this panel and is AVStore a reputable dealer ? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

See http://www.lgcommercial.com/product_...12X_Screen.pdf for the specs. Very impressive, to me.

Called AVStore, they are waiting on their shipment to arrive. But if I want they can ship me the LG MU42PM12X panel from the LG factory in Illinois at no charge. Can have it by next Wednesday. Which is a no brainer. Shipped from them its $200. Has anyone ever had this done ? Sounds too good ? Great specs and price for this HD panel. Getting anxious to buy it.

Wow..nice unit at a great price.

I only saw one component input. Not sure if that's a big deal or not for you.

False advertising?

The retailer's page claims: "Fan-Free Operation"

However, look at pg 6 of the manual.

I am about to pull the trigger on this model also. As far as the one component goes, I think it does have two, the manual only shows one but then also says that the diagram does not necessarily match the real inputs, lg's sight claims two component in the specs. Also flatpanelman or itpros (same company I think) have this unit for a little cheaper and can ship it for about $100

The ITPROS price is slightly cheaper than AVStore and the $100 shipping is only to the commercial address; $250 to a residential address. I believe ITPROS are located in New York.

I am not sure about this, but I seem to remember reading that the 50" version has a fan and the 42" does not.

I saw the commercial version of this unit running the HD Discovery loop at CC. I watched it carefully for quite a while. I was next to a Sony HD and not too far from a Panny HD (all 42"). To my eyes it held its own against the other HD's. I did not try to tweek it, but if the untweeked performance is any indication, it seems like a good bet to me. There are a couple of other treads in the forum that discuss the LG's. I don't have them at my finger tips, but I'm sure they would turn up in a search.

I am lucky and work close to home at a small business so I can take advantage of the $100 shipping. Does anybody know anything about ITPros? Are the reputable at all. I called and talked to the guy for awhile and they seemed to be a pretty good company(meaning they didn't try to talk me into to buying anything else and also suggested I ship it to a business to save more money)

Couldn't wait so I ordered this unit last night after a quick consultation with my wife and a phone call to LG. LG said this unit does have only 1 component input which is not a problem for me and did confirm this is a fan free unit. Don't know if this is bad or good. So now we will see how AVStore delivers. The LG panels I have seen from plasma to LCD in BB,CC and the local electronic stores look great. So I'm not to worried as far as the product is concerned, I just hope it gets to me in one piece and on time. This panel with the mount $2360. Called ITpros and the panel itself was a $51 difference, with the NY taxes it didn't work out for me. I am expecting it on Wednesday. I will post some pics upon arrival.

Later..........

When I called ITpros, I asked if I can save the shipping, tax and pick up the unit being that im about 30 miles from their location. He said they don't stock the units. They ship out of Texas. He did offer to have it shipped to him so I can save on the shipping but had to charge me tax. They seems legit.

Lets not forget the 2 year warranty on parts/labor, where most companies offer only 1 year....
Cant wait for pics and review.....

tv's just wondering what is the difference in a HDTV monitor and a HDTV plasma, is it called a monitor because it does not have speakers? ,this LG plasma seems like a good deal, I am looking forward to reading additional feedback on this unit.

Many of the brands you may be interested in will come in various models which in turn may come in commercial and consumer versions. The MAIN difference between the two is that the consumer versions normally come with speakers and a stand of some sort. To really understand all of the differences between the commercial version and consumer version of specific models, visit the sites of the manufactures. There you can see differences in connectivity, tuners etc.

Based on the price of this unit now, is there any doubt that we will see a 42 inch HD display in 2005 for 2K or less?

Hmm....will this unit be able to plug into HD Satellite or Cable TV out of the box? What is missing and how much additional will it cost a consumer?

You should have no problem. You should be able to hook up either or both. Whether you have to pay anything else depends on what cables you already own

The only issue might be for some people is that this unit has only one component video input (and confirmed by Syker)

Does anyone know why the MU-42PZ90XC MSRP is $1k more? The contrast ratio is actually less than the MU42PM12X, 1200:1 vs. 5000:1. Other specs appear to be the same. I'm curious because the wife prefers the MU-42PZ90XC stainless steel bezel vs. the black finish of the MU42PM12X.

The MU-42PZ90XC is last years model. My wife likes that one also. Show you wife on their website the alternate view of the newer model and she will see that is still has the brushed steel trim on the outside of the bezel kind of a nice compromise

Avstore called me today to confirm that the panel w/mount will be delivered tomorrow and also gave me the tracking number for the trucking company that will be delivering it. Scheduled for 5pm. So far Avstore has been on the money as far as communication. They have called me back every time they told me they would get back to me within 10 minutes. I am very Syked to get this panel. I will post pics with a brief review tomorrow night.

Later............. :D

This is perhaps the only unit from LG that I've seen that can hang with the best of the Pannys.

Avstore was on the money with this purchase. The trucking company called me yesterday morning and confirmed a 5pm delivery. My door bell rang at 4:30. Here are a few pics I'll take better ones next time around. I didn't get a chance to check it out yet due to us getting ready for our New Years party. But I will hook it up where my existing panel is for now, so on Sunday I can give you a quick review with some hd pics. So far it is a beautiful unit, built very solid. Well you be the judge for now. Have a Happy New Year and lets say a pray and make a contribution for all the unfortunate people who were victims of the tsunami.
