I would imagine that most people running a plasma display would never route the audio through the set, it would pretty much come from the source (i.e. the HD cable box) and go directly to a preamp or their receiver.

I see what you are saying though, if you do want to use those speakers on the unit, you are probably giong to have issues.

Myself I plan to have the center channel wall mounted above the unit.

This will be a bedroom set for me and the first thing I plan on doing is removing the speakers and running the audio from my HD STB and DVD to my little Onkyo HTS 570 HTIB.

For multiple audio sources you could get an audio switcher with multiple inputs and a single output - I think forum sponser RAM sells them.

The only bad thing about this plasma is really the resolution. It is essentially 4:3. If I were to make the move a 720p set I at least want a 16:9. The only other deal as sweet as this will be the new 50" Vizio from Costco with HDMI imputs.

Ahem - this dog has been beat to death.

I am no expert by any means, but I believe most 42" HDTVs are 1024 x 768, utilizing rectangle pixels to achieve 16:9. I have two 42" Pannys, one HD and one ED and they both look better than most any other display I have seen - including other 42's and 50's - regardless of cost.

It was showing signs of life. I just wanted to make sure I gave it the fatal blow. :p

I guess I won't be able to know until I see it in person...or a display with a similar resolution.

I would be one of those people using the speakers wiht the set, but before everyone gets all uppity.. there's more to it.

Yes my system is hooked up to a 5.1 receiver, but for old reruns of Bewitched, the local news, sitcoms, etc, why should I bother to run it through the amp.. It'll be just fine with the 2 stock speakers.

If I'm watching something in HD, or a DVD, of course I'll have the amp on.

We're not all purists. some of us just want to watch tv sometimes... I for one can even watch the local news in mono with snow! (GASP!)

The Walmart 42 in. Hyundai HDTV seems like a good deal and has several good reviews on the web. You can't beat it's 3 year warranty upgrade price. Side speakers are available for those of us who don't need to use high end HiFi for regular programs.

Actually, Walmart hasn't done anything that any other company has done, except get hyped by the media, which is very corrupt anyway. If an employee feels that they are underpaid or abuse, then they should have enough common sense to find another job. If they were truly underpaid, then that implies that they can find a better job out there, since they feel this better place exists. But every one is entitled to their opinion. However, lying or distorting the truth, such as the media does, hurts innocent people. That's what makes me mad. I feel quite comfortable shopping at Walmart. I neither work for them or own stock, nor am I related to an employee. I hear plenty of BS where I work. No one is happy unless they are highly paid to do nothing.

I look for price and quality, then find the balance in between. America, love it or leave it baby! And look at that HDTV at Walmart.

So if Enron does something, everyone else can too! This is America? NO!!! America is a place where if we don't like something which is corrupt, something can be done about it. "America, love it or leave it" BS, the beauty of America is that if we don't like something about it, we can change it instead of leaving it and giving up. You are describing Socialism and Dictatorships which if you want to live in those, YOU should leave this country.

As for the lying media, Yes I do agree with you, look at the talking heads like Limburger, HAM-Mighty, and Bil o'LIEly and what we are being told about wars. Thats why Walmart has TV commercials to tell us how well they treat their employees esp. women and minorities. Its all part of the same lies.

Sorry that this went off topic, the above started it and I wanted to defend this great country we live in. :)

EDIT: I just read the mods warning, but this post needs to remain to counter the above rant.

So you are saying that on a site that is not yours nor are you responsible for keeping it a useful tool that your opinion is more important than the moderators rules?

No offense but you are a jackass. Please mods delete his "socialistic" views as they have nothing to do with the topic of the 3G PDP.

But seriously, does any one has any feeling about the 42 in. Hyundai HDTV [whereever it is sold]. I have seen some subjectively good reviews of PQ, but I have never seen their products rated.

At 600 more I'm not sure its comparable. Why not pay 600 more than Hyundai and get a 50" HD vizio ?

Gezzz you guys are kinda mod crazy on this forum... I'm a member of numerous forums and I'm amazed at the over moderation of this thread.. Most posts are on topic... I understand the pricing discussion problem, but this display is unique.. no one else has it.. no sponsors of this site has one... so it's not like any discussion in this thread is is really about finding the lowest price.. and sharing the flier info is against the rules?? exchanging information is against the rules?

The WalMart comment was off topic... I grant you that one..

How can you really have a Home Theater related forum without discussion of price.. prices are constantly changing.. tech is increasing.. it seems a natural for this topic..

No disrepect, but I'm a new member, so this probably won't be cared about much... but this over moderation will probably lead me to look for another forum.... I would think the main goal of any forum would be for members to help each other.. I know this is a tech forum... but there should be some wiggle room

I guess I'll get banend for speeaking my 2 cents...but oh well.

I can vouch for the Vizio as well as the Pioneers. As for the moderation, it needed to be done seeing how I was personally attacked for defending our name.

Thanks CheriDave, you are a cool moderator after all. :)

npmyoung, I respect your opinions and have found them helpful. I'm sorry for any disturbance that I have caused. I'm just looking for some technical help as well as reassurance to buying now. We tend not to watch a lot of TV, which is generally used for childrens programs. But I just hate looking at that 170 lb 36in tube, especially in view of more higher tech stuff at my home. That is why I was looking for a cheap plasma rather than waiting. My kids sit on the floor. Therefore a DLP would not be best for them viewing it. You have all been very helpful to me and I would like to thank you all as well. Sometimes I find the reassurance parts to be even more helpful, such as it is probably OK to buy it if you only are expecting reasonable quality. Maybe I will be pleasantly surprised. Either way, you made me feel better about my decision to pull the trigger. With my luck, it will arrive when I'm on vacation in July.

Wow. People are touchy here. Did I offend anyone or is someone just having a bad day?

If I made an incorrect statement, I don't mind being corrected...no need to throw a hissy fit. ;) (An explanation as to what was wrong might be helpfull too...to me as well as to others).

... read back.. it shouldn't have to explained twice.

Most 42 inch HD plasma's are 1024x768

Plus since you have already stated at least 3 times in this thread you're not interested in this display, why do you keep coming back to post that fact?

Let's steer this thread back on track...

How many people here have actually ordered one of these sets? I have my order on hold right now... but am thinking about giving them the go-ahead. One of my co-workers also is going to order. So that's 2!

I know they have around 1,500 orders. I wonder how many came from here?

Hey guys, I found this thread while looking for reviews on this tv. I have completely read this thread as well as the thread going on at fatwallet. I placed my order for this tv today so I assume I will be getting it around the beginning of July if that is still the current date. Im gonna be one of the people looking for actual reviews from those who gets theirs in June.
