i switched from a s video output to a dvi/hdmi cable today thinking that all i need to do is switch the input to HDMI to see the pciture. However after the switch, i see nothing but a black screen on the hdmi inputs.

I tried to disconnect all the cables except for the HDMI and still nothing. The video card on the PVR displays fine with S-video and i have a feeling i'm doing something wrong that is not enabling HDMI input.

tx

Your issue is most likely with enabling the HDMI output on the source.

you have to enable the HDMI input?? the cable was snug-ly plugged in on both ends and i selected hdmi as AV source from the menu. (same procedure i use to select s-video for PVR viewing).

You must enable HDMI output on the PVR.

Your HTPC does not output audio from the video card. You'll have to connect your pc's SPDIF/Optical out to your display. Make sure you set your display's digital audio input to the corresponding HDMI input.
