So I'm going to update my 12 year old home theater system and I'd like some advice from those in the know.
First of all, is this the right place to ask for this type of advice, or is there another section I should post this in?
I have about $4000 to spend, and I need the works; HDTV, Receiver, speakers, DVD player, amp, subwoofer, the whole nine yards.
I can get by with the DVD player and receiver and speakers I have, but they are just not up to handling newer content and will need to be upgraded. The TV take priority as the old set is dying a slow death. I'm leaning towards an LCD, I like the slim form factor, it tends to be less than plasma, and as a gamer, I don't particularly want to worry about burn-in, which I understand LCD is more or less immune to.
For a receiver, I'm pretty much completely clueless. I'd like to have all inputs upconvert to HDMI output, but beyond that I really don't have many particulars.
Any help is greatly welcome.
