Swapping cards without DirecTV assiatance? I thought I read a post of being able to phone in a swap, is this number still active and how? I got a round of grief with swapping an old receiver's card with an RCA UTV. This fall I was told I had to buy a new card to active a clean DTC-100 HD instead of being able to swap cards with another tuner I own.

Sound right? Thanks.

You might try "refreshing" your Receivers via your Online Account (Troubleshooting Video and Sound). You can select any/all of your access cards and have the service update them. Depending on the type of receiver the cards will reassign (swap) to their new location.

Faster and easier then using the phone in my opinion.

Thanks. I should have dug a little deeper in the forum. Looks like a similar thread was bumped up to a few posts below mine after posting. I've booked marked the DirecTV link and setup an online account to give it a try.

I recently replaced a non-utv receiver and tech support told me I could NOT swap the card and sent me to another person to order a new card, they laughed and said of course we can activate your old card in the new receiver, it took about 1 minute to get it done once you talk to the right person.

That is the issue. When DTV or it's CSRs say/do things that conflict with it's own "policies".

Just like everything else it all depends on luck of the draw on who you get on the phone when the issue is something more then the basic script tells them. They'll usually stick to the script and say "Buy a new one..." and be done with it...

Finally gave it a try with one of the two DTC100's. Worked like a charm! Thanks everyone.
