This is what you get for not checking in more regularly Dave...

Didn't realize Radio Shack was already clearing these out back in '01... I jumped on the bandwagon 11 years ago when I found my local RS(es) , CCs, and BBs clearing them out. Found my first one April '02 the last one in March '03.

Sweet find if you've basically got them "fresh" in the box. That was one thing I never did but considered doing with mine... Since 40GB IDE Drives weren't a bad deal for the $50 alone. But I kind of liked them so much and DTV Contracts all kind of kept me putting them into service at the time.

DTV has not said anything to me about my two RCA UTV receivers. Haven't seen any onscreen messages either.

Always ready to pull the lever on that La-Z-Boy.

srfrdan might want to clarify but I'm suspecting the confusion might be with DirecTV "pressuring" a customer to upgrade to a "modern" Receiver (No surprise if you call them and they see a 10+ Year old Receiver(s) on the account they'd be remiss in not mentioning it...) AND the statement "along with my rca receivers from that time".

Two different things... According to this one thread. http://www.dbstalk.com/topic/203605-pre-2003-receiver-upgrade/ Most of these Pre-2003 Model Receivers are at their End of Life now and are likely to be upgraded by DTV if they are still in service. For example My pre-UTV Receivers (A Sony Sat A-55 and a B-55) have been chilling out downstairs with my spare UTVs/Parts... and until yesterday I'd assumed that if needed I could have reactivated them on my account... doesn't seem likely now.

Good news that list doesn't seem to include any of the 3 UTV models, yet. So there is still time... enjoy it while you can.

I'm finally back to where I was last year before the thunderstorm. I have two in service and two spares with both tuners working. I downloaded 3.8 again to one of the spares. AllI have to do is move and refresh the card.
I might be under siege.

Always ready to pull the lever on that La-Z-Boy.
