Cadent HDMI Switch: High Design Meets High Functionality

Today we are excited to announce a new HDMI switch called the Cadent 4x1 which is designed and made by our Salt division.

Meant to Be Seen

The Cadent 4x1 HDMI Switch's unique industrial design is milled out of a solid piece of aluminum. Instead of ugly physical buttons, the Cadent has a flat-glass capacitive-touch face. The included remote (also unibody design-- we wouldn't skimp on the part you touch the most) also employs capacitive touch controls and provides subtle vibratory feedback as you select your HDMI sources. Both the remote and the unit itself use backlighting that is perfectly dim for your dark home theater.

Some of us like to hide our home theater components in a closet or behind cabinet doors, but for those of us with a zeal for our equipment, the Cadent's look is a great asset for technophile Home Theater setups.

Advanced Functions and Performance

The Cadent also packs some extra functionality that will make watching multiple HDMI sources much more smooth.

PolyView: Cadent allows viewers to see what's going on in real-time on the non-active HDMI ports. Watching a movie on Blu-Ray but want to keep a passive eye on that live football game? Forget which HDMI port has the PS4 on it? PolyView lets you look at all sources in real time using Picture in Picture:

The Cadent is able to do this by connecting to all the inactive HDMI devices in the background while you're watching the active HDMI port.

PolyShift: While PolyView is finding out what's playing on all the inactive sources, it's also performing EDID handshakes with the same sources. If you've ever wondered why switching from one HDMI source to another can take 4-10 seconds (depending on your gear), it's because your HDTV and your HDMI sources have to send a lot of information to each other besides the actual video (this is what we call the EDID handshake). Polyshift handles this in the background ahead of time so that you can quickly switch between sources.

The Cadent 4x1 Switch is not available for purchase yet, but if you want to keep up with release date news, you can sign up to be notified here.
