Hi all,

With CES in full swing, is sony coming out with a recorder to use with its firewire tv's? I have the 34xbr2 and am chomping at the bit to record the OTA stuff.

Thanks,

eric

We have been told here by a professional reviewer, Gary Merson (writes for The Perfect Vision magazine), who supposedly had the information from Sony directly, that the FireWire connections on Sony's XBR2s is one-way. Programming from their integral ATSC tuners is not available through that connection (as it is from Mitsubishi's 2002 sets). It will play digital content from sources connected that way, but will not act as a source. Stupid, but apparently true.

thanks mike,

I remember reading about some early testing that said the 34xbr2 could recognize a JVC recorder (I think) but couldnt record to it. That really is unfortunate. It would be nice to record the OTA stuff to show to those not familiar with what an HDTV program looks like. Maybe someday soon.

Wishful thinking.

Thanks again for the response.
