I spoke to JVC about the "freezing" problem and they promised to get back to me once they got a handle on things, but they never did.

I really wasn't about to begin playing that game, so I sent the unit back to e-cost for a refund.

Ciao,

I meant to speak with them about this at CES but I couldn't find them.

I also returned my unit to ecost.

What freezing problem?

I got a second unit from JandR to replace the first unit, which had problem playing all of my Panasonic-recorded tapes.

The 2nd unit plays them back flawlessly!

By the way, has anyone tried recording SD 4-hour mode to a high quality regular VHS tape?

Wow.. I just experienced multiple audio dropout every 10-15 minutes of a tape I recorded on the Panasonic recorder! This has never happened when played back on the Tu-DST50 !

Anyone having similar experience?

That's a known problem with all 30000s and 35000s, including Japanese models.

In my limited experience, this happens with HBO and Showtime movies, but not with CBS OTA.

I did watch an episode of the Ellen Show before the Showtime movie.. don't recall if I experienced the dropout problem or not. I'll watch CSI this week to verify.

Does it happen with tapes recorded on the JVC itself?

Can we start a petition drive to force JVC to address the audio dropout and video pixalation problems with this VCR somehow?

Jlin,

I live in France, and use the Japanese models, so I could not help you with a US petition!

But that's a good idea, the more people complain, the most likely these problems will be fixed.
