I'm ready to move on a card - a Telemann HiPix from Digital Connection seems the obvious choice. But people have mentioned some new cards showing at CES. Anyone have news about any of these? Prices? Capability? Availability?

HiPix has my vote. The ability of recording the HiPix transport files to the JVC DH30000 is a big plus.

I was not aware this was possible...could you elaborate on how you transport the HiPix files
to the JVC?

Does that mean that once the files are transferred to the JVC, the movie can be played by the JVC?

Yes - Not only that, but you can create transport files from the JVC that HiPix can play back provided that the tape is not copy protected.

Chris: As far as I know, those are the only three. I know of at least one add'l Korean company that is selling an HD, but not in the US market and at no discount to the current offerings.

I'd love to this. Where can I buy the JVC DH30000 to do it with?
Also, I can't wait to see how to do this!

Is anybody able to provide sample HDTV file recording for
download to Europe? We are going to get 50" plasma
displays and HD projector to our lab but we have no
material to test.

Yepp,

would be great if somebody could help us poor Europeans :D
Seriously, I would so much love to watch some HDTV clips. It would be great if some guys could provide us with some demo clips.

THX,

What we need is a HD PC card with a firewire port, or with a software solution to output an ATSC stream via an existing firewire port in the computer to record to D-VHS.

I'm on the HiPix dev team, so I will work on adding that feature in. (So that you can record directly to the DVHS instead of writing to the file.) I can't promise anything however, since this does require changes to the driver core so it's out of my hands for now.
