So far, I have a Samsung T150, Pioneer 643HD5 HDTV(480i, 480p, 1080i input only), and a HiPix HTPC. Everything works great for receiving OTA HDTV, which is all I'm gonna have for awhile.
What is the cheapest D-VHS that I can get which will allow me to either directly record HDTV, or at least archive my HiPix files to tape for playback on my Pioneer. Being able to use S-VHS tapes to record HDTV would also be a bonus since I have about 100 S-VHS tapes at the ready.
Thank you very much for all your help!!!

Check out this Thread .

I don't think you can do it YET... but we're close...

so far we can pull streams off DVHS.. but recording has eluded us.

I hope the Hipix developers are hot on this feature for the next update!! :p

If not the tools should be available in the next few months...

Joe

JPELL: Thank you for your reply! Yes, I did previously read this thread and have DL'ed Ben Cooleys program. It looks like in that thread that they have had success using the JVC unit but was wondering if anyone has used a less expensive unit? So far, the cheapest I've found the JVC unit was $1149 or so.
