Why do I need a DVS machine intermediate?

With DStream and other tools, can't we use our XP IEEE1394 ports to output a valid mpeg stream to the Sony kd34xbr2 i.Link connector?

One way of course.

mpeg TS stream XP --> Sony kd34xbr2

The only trick here is to get XP to load the proper drivers!!

Have you plugged the XBR2 into the computer?
Does it try to load drivers? which ones?

if you can get it to load one of the "Microsoft AV/C Tape Subunit Device" drivers ( there are JVC and Panasonic, maybe more..) then the current tools will work...

Also if you do have a DVHS, then with all 3 on IEEE1394 you should be able to make the XBR2 "listen" to the XP(as it streams to the JVC) or the JVC output...
