the only way to beat the wmc 4-tuner limit? When I first started looking into wmc, I thought I read about a registry hack to remove the limit. I have searched and just can't find it. All I can find is TunerSalad. Is there another way to get more than four HDHomeRun tuners working in wmc?
I've heard (have not tried myself), if you install the Ceton driver for the Infinty6 (6 tuner card), it will do the changes of the system so you can support more than 4 tuners of one type (You can by default do 4 of each type, 4 CC, 4 QAM, 4 analog etc).
There are a lot of other cool things you can do with Media Center...you can theme it with different colors and background images, you can ad ICONs next to the channels in the guide. 30 min pause time not enough? you can extend this out to as long as you want, mine is set for 12 hours...it's just a simple registry setting.
It's too bad that the eHome team broke up, They ended it right before Windows 8 came out. Still would like to see them update it a little, new layout (or really good themes), fixed Movie library (works but very flakey), support for 4K, Xbox one as a Extender, etc, the list goes on...
I used to build (my own business) custom Windows Media Center PCs, so customizing these can be pretty flexible if you wanted it to be.
I've been using Media Center from XP media Center the very first version of MC and my current system is a dedicated HTPC with about 300 movies(with HD audio), 2tb for recording TV, cablecard (infinty4) had QAM till Comcast shut it off, and 2 extenders...
