I just accepted a second HD DVR from directv. How does this work in conjunction with whole home DVR? Specifically, can shows recorded on one DVR be watched on the other DVR? Also, can shows be watched on the HD boxes that are recorded on both DVRs? Is there anything special that has to be done in order to watch the shows?

Tell them you want it to work with whole home, and they will install and setup everything you need and configure all your boxes so they see each other. Every situation is different, depending on what sort of system you have now, so you may need a lot of additional stuff, or you may not.

To answer your other questions, recordings on any DVR can be watched on any other DVR or H21 or above HD receiver, but not on SD receivers.

If, on the other hand, this is a DIY project, then there is quite a bit you need to do, so head on over to DBSTalk if that's the case and post all the details of the system you have now (DVR and receiver models, SWM or no SWM, etc.).

The H20 doesn't have a network connection so for receivers it's the H21 and above.
