Just looking over the "updated" HDTV recorder list and didn't see this one on the list. Is this a new one, or just another clone of the iview?

It is called the Viewtv VT-163 shown here on amazon.com Doing a search didn't turn up much and but seems to have the same ouputs as the iview.

Viewtv VT-163 ATSC Digital TV Converter Box and Media Player w/ Recording PVR Function / HDMI Out / Coaxial Out / Composite Out / USB Input

http://www.amazon.com/Viewtv-Converter-Recording-Function-Composite/dp/B00GGVPKKC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1384663213&sr=8-1&keywords=viewtv+vt-163

I'm hoping its an upgrade to the iview 3500STB and must be twice a good, as it is twice as much.

You should post this in that thread.
It appears there seems to be a unending number of different versions of the same thing appearing out of no where, though cosmetically, this look slick.

Abundant OTA television is what makes this country different from all others. Lets keep it this way. If you like Wi-Fi so much, OTA fits right in. After all, it is wireless.

Not Worth It!

Bought one of these to replace a Iview3500STBII and I can tell you it is a piece of junk! It uses the same software as the Iview. The unit would not retain a scheduled recording entry, and while fast forwarding through a program I recorded it would lock up even though I was using a 500GB external hard drive. I sent it back one week after receiving it so I can't tell you if it has the same problem with the USB plug that many of the Iviews do.

Maybe but for the price it is almost a throw away device and sometimes we should temper our expectation based on the price point compared to the competition. Sure it doesnt look as sleek as the DVR+ nor does it have the functionality as a Tivo, but its price is that of a very simple timer based video recorder comparable to yester years VCR's....

Take 2

That's exactly why I bought it...to have a simple basic recording device. Again, it does not function as advertised...would not retain scheduled recording times, and has a weak tuner. I have had three different brands of these devices and none worked properly.

At least I'm only out $50.00 for the first one I purchased. It worked for about ten months. Got full refunds on the others...
