Want to Time Shift streamed TV programming

Don't know where to post this.

I have made use of Comcast's DVR to timeshift programs for years. Now, like many others, increasingly watch lots of programming via streaming.
I want to be able to record, pause, FF thru commercials, just like I do with the DVR. Is there a computer program and/or a hardware device that will easily do this?

If you can stream on the computer, there are a number of software solutions that will capture legal streams. Audials is one.

If you're using a streaming box, then you need a capture device such as the Hauppauge 1512. There's a whole discussion on capturing streams with a 1512 going on in our HTPC Forum.

Walking the fine line between jaw-dropping and a plain ol' yawn.
