It's so slow it's driving me crazy. Sometimes it's so bad that advancing only one hour makes it do the "Retrieving information from the sat...." thing. Other times I can skip ahead 8 or ten hours before the long pause. Does anybody understand why this happens? I might be able to live with it if I understood it. I only tune to 61.5. Would it help if I gathered from the other two? I use favorites. Should I try something else?I have the latest software.

It is a sad fact of life. The new dishplayer/PVR receivers store it on hard disk which is much better but they haven't released an HDTV capable one yet.

You would think we all the highspeed data and fast CPUs they would be able to have better program guides. Sigh.

It used to work better when there was only one dish satellite and far fewer channels. I don't think it was designed well to support as many channels as they now broadcast.

Somebody please welcome me to the HDTV recorder revolution. http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/wink.gif

Personally, I keep my laptop by the couch and use the online HBO-HD and SHO-HD guides. I only use my Dish 5000 for those two channels, though. You could use the online guide at www.dishnetwork.com for the normal channels - it's a little faster than the Dish 5000.
