Will the Panasonic TU-DST-50W control/record to and play back (out of component video outputs to a Toshiba HDTV) from the new Mits and JVC D-VHS Units later this year?

I am trying to decide whether or not to buy a Panasonic PV-HD1000 or wait for the Mits or JVC.

Has anyone bought a grey market JVC 30000 D-VHS and tried to control/record/playback to and from the JVC through component outputs on the TU-DST-50W?

I wonder what the value of a Panasonic PV-HD1000 will be if the next generation JVC or Mits D-VHS work with the TU-DST-50W?

To my knowledge, the only way to record hidef from the component video connections of any source is the WVHS recorder from JVC.

The new digital hidef recorders from JVC and Mits and also the HD1000 will only record hidef using the digital firewire connection.

I probably worded that poorly.

I want to know if the TU-DST 50W will deliver an (a) Dish 5000/MOD HBO-HD or (b) OTA HD signal by firewire to the JVC or Mits for recording

- and then -

when the VCR deck is in playback will the TU-DST 50W obtain the playback signal from the VCR deck by firewire and make it available at the component video outs (of the TU-DST 50W ) for viewing on HDTV's with componenht video only inputs such as the Toshiba sets have.

I think gridleak has successfully done what you describe using the grey market JVC digital recorder, but there were some hiccups.

Search the last 30 to 60 days of this forum for his experiences
