This new RPTV has 1394 inputs. Will this work with the new mitsu recorder?

It certainly should. If both Sony and Mitsubishi have been true to the standards, it should work fine. I'd be very surprised if it hadn't been actually been interoperability tested with the Mitsubishi deck. Manufacturers tend to be very good about cooperating on that sort of thing.

The Mitsubishi deck, which has no tuner, should be able to use the ATSC tuner in the Sony television for recording.
