I have Comcast and have been using a DCX3400M box for the last 6 years with the internal 500GB drive. Last year, they sent out firmware a31 which allowed the eSATA port to support 2TB drives. I purchased a WD AV-GB 2TB drive and a Thermaltake enclosure. Since then, it has worked great connected to the DCX via the eSATA cable.
What I'd like to know, is if it would be possible to upgrade the internal 500GB drive to a 2GB drive as well?
From reading this thread , my thinking would be to install a new 2TB drive in the external expander, so the DCX box will format it (like I did a year ago). But then take that drive and swap it for the 500GB internal one. If that would work, you could end up with both a 2TB internal and external drive.
But the bad thing would be loosing all my programs on the current 500GB drive.
