I just exchanged my old 6412 for a new one due to my PVR recordings being jittery. I have had the new 6412 hooked up and running for about an hour and on channels like ESPN, TNT, and Cinemax HD 5C implementation is set to NO, and Copy Control shows Copy Free. My question is....how do I keep it that way ? :) Or is this normal with a new box hookup and 5C implentation will turn on soon? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks alot

Ok, now has been hooked up for about 2 hours and still getting the copy free msg. However CapDVHS is acting as if 5C is implemented. Recording my local HD channels but not premium ones. Has anyone else have this happen? 5C showing not implemented and copy free....but not able to record via firewire to pc using CapDVHS? Thanks

I am still showing 5C implementation: No and Copy Control: Copy Free and am unable to capture the premium channels. No one has had this happened to them? I could really use some information. Thanks

The flags are set by the cable company. There is nothing you can do to change that.

I have read that there is a flag setting other than 5C that can fool a machine into thinking that the channel is copy protected even though the 5C flag is set to copy freely.

Apparently only the JVC 3000 records under these conditions ( even the 4000 and 5U will not record).

Not sure of this explains your issue...but it might.

I'm not sure what you mean by copy free msg. Did you check the diagnostic menu on the 6412 to make sure that all channels are indicating Copy Free?
