I'm considering buying a DTV-200. How does its internal SD upconverter compare with the Powerstrip 3.0 beta that I'm currently using (and quite happy with) in an HTPC?

I mean, how does the performance of whatever scaler is built into the HiPix DTV-200 compare with Powerstrip 3.0 beta. (I've heard of dScaler, but I'm not familiar with it.)

David,

Powerstrip is the software that let's you create custom resolution, and is not used for scaling.

I feel like I'm playing "20 Questions" here...

"Can someone please rate the picture quality of the HiPix DTV-200 when it is being used to upconvert SDTV video to 1080i for display?"

Dave,

I'll take a shot at it:)

I used the S-Video input on the Hipix to upscale the output of my TIVO to see if I could improve the PQ from the TIVO.

The Hipix is feeding 1080i to my Mits HDTV.

I found NO improvement in the PQ. The Hipix acted like a simple passthrough.

The Line Doubler in my Mits does a better job.

What the other folks are talking about is using a capture card and the Dscaler program for improving PQ.

I tried that too and there was a definite improvement. However, the picture from Dscaler jittered too much.

I am back to just using the internal line doubler in my Mits.
