How To Connect Your Subwoofer [Home Theater]

Regardless of what brand subwoofer you buy, there are two ways to connect your new subwoofer to your amplifier or home A/V receiver.

Most receivers will label the subwoofer output simply as “Subwoofer” with a single RCA connector, but some manufacturers may label the subwoofer output “LFE Output.” For this discussion they are the same thing and accomplish the primary goal – connecting your A/V receiver to your subwoofer.

If your receiver does not have a dedicated subwoofer (or LFE) output, you can connect to the speaker-level (or high-level) inputs on your subwoofer. If your A/V receiver does not have a dedicated subwoofer output, be sure when purchasing your subwoofer that it has speaker-level inputs.
