WALLE interview sound designer Ben Burtt

Watch an exclusive Mix magazine video with sound designer Ben Burtt about working on the Pixar movie WALL-E

Hmmm, didn't know the DVD extras where out yet, I guess this is foretaste for what's to come, when WallE hits region 2 DVD.

Thanks JBL - some of this was available at Apple just before the film opened. The lecture is fun.

Yeah no worries.

It was quite humorous when he mentioned fleaBay made me laugh, followed by The Wilhelm Scream'! That wind-up motor thingy where the assistant sat on top, that was damn loud, the pitch of the frequency was bending my ears on the tiny built-in pc speaker.

Interesting to start on background effects then grandly move forwards to foreground effects. I'll pay even higher attention next-time around I'll focus on the distance and see what I can pick out.

I'm sure he slyly used Wilhelm Scream' in WallE somewhere, might be when all those people on the spaceship where rolling, falling over when the ship banked over.

Old School Foley is still the best, even if it is enhanced on a Mac

Incredibles is just as fun with all the energy beams, planes, E Mode gadget sounds and great 007 music ques.
