Cool, this is in my queue now. Ray Wise is usually pretty good in this stuff.

I did Excision over the weekend. I am not sure if it was really good or a real waste of time?

I didn't care for Excision much. The trailer really built it up to be something more of a bloodbath and while it was still plenty disturbing a climactic dream sequence to cap off the teasers we'd already had would have been most welcomed.

We all must be needing a horror fix because last night I fired up Return of the Living Dead for some 80's zombie awesomeness. The Shining was on IFC night before that and I fell asleep on the sofa watching it. As Hannibal said in Red Dragon "it's like slipping in to a warm bath" tongue.gif

Excision was similar in feel to Ginger Snaps with the awkward teen girl stuff. As a guy that always feels so alien and yet captivates me. Teeth would be another example. Hemlock Grove as well.

There's only one. There is a part 2 and 3. Amazon has them all. The first on BD, too.

I have the BD of the original "The Crazies" by Romero in 1973. It came out on BD by Blue Underground right before the remake hit theaters. It has a great interview/commentary by Romero and the guy who owns Blue Underground. I thought I was going to order it online but I found it at Rasputin's for a good price (which is a rarity there for something new). It was Romero's first union shoot.

Good movie and Rasputin's is a place I haven't heard of in years! I lived near one when I lived in Campbell and loved that place.smile.gif

A few movie reviews:

The Hole

A nothing fancy little flick by Joe Dante.

Ol' Bruce Dern shows up in a cameo and is excellent.
The girl playing our heroine, and who looks like the off-spring of Jennifer Lawrence and Jessica Biel, gives a fine performance.

My only really complaint is the kid playing the hero is not a very good actor...must be a producer's teen son.
However, the movie works and is worth a rental.

House of Bones

.
This is a TV movie I found on DVD and is surprisingly good.

Although Charisma Carpenter (from Buffy/Angel) has the star billing, it's really an ensemble piece.

The story is about the proverbial Haunted House.
Good acting, with a fair amount of gore and scares.
Worthy of a rental.

FWIW, I tried The Citadel.....boring, skip it..

A.P.S. deserve our protection....join the cause today!

In Concord, Rasputin's moved from a smaller store off of Sun Valley Mall to the old Tower Records. They had a canvas Rasputin's sign over the Tower Records and it seems to have fallen down but of course no one there has put it back up again. They have a lot of $3 DVDs but they are never in any order so you have to spend a lot of time looking though them just on the chance you might find something good. They've got a more expanded used BD section though. Usually their "new" products were MSRP priced so Fry's down the road usually had a better price. Not so with "The Crazies."
