Have you seen it? The best way I can think of to describe my issue is that there wasn't enough in a few places. It's tough to describe. Sort of like House of the Devil in the way it sets everything up albeit Lords is more thorough and faster.

I really enjoyed HOTD. I have not seen this yet but haven't read too much praise on it. Lee has a review up in the bluray forums that is not overly flattering either. I'll still give it a go next month as a rental.

For sure worth a watch in this crowd. I'll probably watch it again in October.

What a gem this is; a must see IMO.
We laughed our knickers off.

This flick is in the same sub-genre as Shaun of the Dead.
Hell, it's just as good as SotD.cool.gif
Another bonus is the movie has "heart" (something it shares with Shaun).

IMHO, this is a must buy, and the BD has fine AV.
It does have English Subs, but I didn't find the Cockney too difficult to understand.

EVERYONE must, at a minimum, put this on their October List.

I give it 4 out of 4 A1 Grade Prime meat Zombies.smile.gif

Awesome! This is in my top five for most anticipated movies for October.

+1

I wanted to blind buy this but too many movies coming out that I have to get, so rental it is. Blurays can get so cheap now. If you can just wait a few months to a year, titles like this drop to $7-10 all the time. I just can't always wait though... tongue.gif

Sorry you didn't quite like it, darthsg. I loved it despite it having a few minor flaws, I really think it could end up being his master work.

My 7-year-old daughter Jillian created her own animated series called "Overly Sensitive Zombie Girl"! Daddy helped with some of the more technical aspects but all credit goes to Jillian! The lighter side of horror to be sure, but hope you enjoy!

I rented "Cockney's vs Zombies" on VUDU last night which was a fun ride. Not quite as funny as Simon Pegg's work but still a fun watch. After that I watched "Slaughter" on Netflix WI which is a fairly good gore flick. Three dead hogs.

Might be the last day of it but Dish customers has HBO, Max for free this weekend. I got to record some decent movies for Oct.

That was a cool animation short you and your daughter made!

LOVE the Darbee. Really adds an extra sense of depth and detail to my old jvc RS10 on my 133" screen. I run "hidef" for sub par bluray, and HDTV and DVD. "Gaming" for average blurays and "full pop" for most excellent bluray releases or animated. All at 50%. Seems to get rave reviews from old pj's like mine all the way up to the $20k+ pj's. Excellent addition to any large screen.

Sounds like a sweet IB setup my man! Thanks for posting your Darbee preferences. I'll give them a shot when I get the chance to dial mine in.

+2 on Cockneys. That & Doghouse are two recent quality "horror-comedy" entries from the UK. Anyone going to check out Grabbers? The survivors have to stay drunk to avoid the monsters so that's an apocalypse I can get behind. smile.gif

OK so far I've got these on my must see list:

Juan of the Dead
Event Horizon (finally)
Bad Milo
Grabbers
Lords of Salem
No One Lives
The Collection
The Bay
Antiviral
Chained
Chernobyl Diaries
Hell Night (1981)

Any new ones I'm missing?

Bob, that's pretty good for a seven-year old...and your daughter's work was good, too. When she get's older, send her my way. I have a friend who's a crack child psychologist.

Seriously though, I think she's got a future in animation. Make sure you guide her properly.

World War Z
The Purge
Fright Night 2
Maniac
Byzantium
VHS 2

I watched Lords of Salem yesterday. I liked it, too. If one were expecting something like "House" or "Devil's Rejects", I can see a let down of sorts.

The movie is RZ telling a horror story about some people in Salem in present day. The movie isn't presented as caricature of horror movies like House and Devil's, the things are presented as it could happen, a retelling of events (closer to the way he did Halloween) as the storyline. As usual, RZ didn't let me down with the visuals, attention to detail, and music on the production side of things. I'm going to watch it again to see what things I missed the first time through. Also, having Ken Foree in the movie was a nice touch.

For sure do not go in thinking HOTD but it is similar in setup but way more procedural in that buildup process. I did like it more than the other RZ movies however. It will be getting a second viewing in October.

I agree RZ did an outstanding job in the visuals and mood department.

The following spoiler is for PooperScooper Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
I thought the part where the music affected the other women was left hanging and thought by the end all hell was gonna break loose with multiple witches. Or did I miss something?

Good list. I'm hopeful that The Conjuring will be released in Oct, so that's one you might want to add. Hell Night??? Sweet. Its been a long time, but I saw it several times in my teen years. I was actually looking to buy it last week on Amazon but it was $20 for the dvd. Not sure if I want to pay that much to see Linda Blair play a scream queen.

My wife likes it because there are no bulky sub boxes. WAF is high! smile.gif

Sounds like you probably know all this but IB's have a pretty good rep for value, lack of distortion/better tone and playing LOW. smile.gif The biggest issue is to have a suitable area for the back wave. Suitable so you can put the openings in the right part of your room, and this key, either be able to sound proof your back wave area or have it be in an area that won't affect the rest of your home - or not care. biggrin.gif

Your back wave will have the exact amount of amazing bass and gut wrenching sonic bombardment as your HT. So if that will work for you, it is a great way to go IMO. The only other trade off, compared to normal box subs, is mid bass output is not as superior as its ULF. I have two separate 12" subs in the back of my room that are more tuned to 40 hz+ and my mains are pretty competent down to 50hz. But if you don't have the right layout you can still get the job done with ID subs or diy. Just there are other trade offs. More $, bigger boxes...

Good luck! ULF is a great tool to make it feel like you are in the movie. Wave after wave of bass is physically hitting you and my seating feels like it is literally twisting and pant legs are fluttering, and on the really low stuff, my hair feels like it is curling as the ulf wants to vibrate it. Good times...biggrin.gif
