I remember some recommending Pontypool a while back and just saw it's STILL not available on Netflix. I'm putting in an Amazon UK order for Inferno soon - think I should add the BD to the order?

If you have Showtime/The Movie Channel, these films are presented in HD and OAR on those channels. (Saw ROOST a few weeks back on SHO.) PONTYPOOL is currently playing on TMC on 09/23 through 09/30, and probably beyond.

Well, looks like I'm gonna have my work cut out for me this year to make the requisite 31. Unfortunately, I have to officiate football on October 1 in a city nearly 2.5 hours away. After the game, I return home only to get 5-6 hours of sleep before leaving for Minneapolis (3.5 hours away). We fly out in the early afternoon heading to Atl to watch the Braves for the final 2 games of the year (playoff push, hopefully) and we won't be back home until the 5th.

5 days behind will be a tough way to start, but as my wife would say, it is surprising the amount of dedication that I have to this challenge.

Distance of 2.5 hrs away = 1 horror movie of roughly 90min in length
Distance of 3.5 hrs away = 1 horror movie of up to 120min+ in length
You are now only 3 days behind

Yeah, I already considered doing exactly that....but with the 50 Classic Horror Movie box set that my sister got for me last Christmas. Many of those are around an hour long. Not to mention, I can get my first look at the original House on Haunted Hill.

Well, i posted earlier about what i am thinking of, but have put some more thought into it. Right now, i am considering:

13 of the Masters Of Horror Series - the good ones (in my opinion), you will see what i consider good as i watch them one by one.

Grotesque
Street Trash
Headers
The Girl Next Door
Frontiers
Inside
Hostel I and II
I Spit On Your Grave
Deadgirl
Planet Terror
Seed of Chucky
Pulse
Jason X
The Mist

If i watch all those, thats 28, (they are all in my dvd collection) and that would allow me to throw a few others in, and i will be looking to see whats in the theaters. Saw-7 is a definite, and i will decide on others.

I could always change my list on the fly though.......

Apollo I'm sure you'll be fine. Plus those movies in the 50 movie pack are great when you're in a fix: Bad flicks, but some are really short!

I've also got these on my list. First time viewing for all three (I think). Good stuff listed so far fellas!

I have a lot of weird movies on my list this year. Just paid $35 (GASP!) for some gialo called So Sweet, So Dead. The title alone was worth the price.

We're having a big kickoff party at my place on 10/1. I think Frozen and either The Evil Dead or Zombi will be the movies. It's funny how people know this is part of our routine now. I've been asked a few times at work if I'm preparing for the horror thon next month and my answer is "you know it, since November!"

The above post is 100% medically accurate

Never heard of So Sweet, So Dead, cant wait for your review.

In fact, i am unfamiliar with Frozen also. Zombi too.

You are lucky you are having a kickoff party, everyone i know thinks i am sick for my love of horror movies, and as you guys should know by now, my wife has such a phobia that i can only watch when she is in another room plus i have to have headphones on!!!!

You guys may want to add this to your list, I watched Act of Vengeance on Instant. Pretty damn solid slasher/scooby doo flick. The bad guy is pretty evil.

Man that sucks... half the horror movies I watch end up being so much more engaging because the lights are out and my HT is freaking me out with sounds outside of my head. I have some Denon D5000 and Sennheiser HD800, as much as I love both they just can't touch a good HT when it comes to movies.

darthrsg - I don't see that one available at blockbuster, I'll have to check comcast ondeman when I get home.

Did some online research and came up with several that I have somehow never even heard of. Recently added to my Blockbuster queue are:

Ginger Snaps
Teeth
Funny Games
Pontypool (actually heard alot about this one)
Deadgirl
The House of the Devil

I also plan to re-watch The Blair Witch Project and Hostel 1/2.

Flicks that have been in previous challenges that are definitely getting viewings are Orphan, House of 1000 Corpses and probably a couple others that I haven't thought of yet.

I almost forgot about House of 1000 Corpses, I saw that for the first time last October and it;s now in regular Oct rotation.

I enjoyed House of the Devil... very 80's esq but slow moving as it builds. Worth watching though! Deadgirl was gnarly and Pontypool, we'll I can't say enough about that one but I was quick to import the BD from amazon.uk as soon as it was released.

Anyone see any of the Fangoria Firghtfest movies?

That Sint movie looks awesomely crazy!

I haven't made an official list but I've moved all my horror movies on Netflix to the top. I also plan on finally watching The Mist in black and white (I saw the color theatrical release years ago). Plus I have stacks of Hammer Horror and Midnite Movies sets to fall back on.

Here are my Netflix movies.

Severance
Three...Extremes
Dark Water
Halloween II
Jennifer's Body
The Echo
Lifeforce
The Human Centipede
I Sell the Dead
Triangle
Ginger Snaps
The Prowler
Teeth
Phantasm III
The Lost
Cry Wolf
Sleepaway Camp
Happy Birthday to Me
Prom Night
Inferno
Dark Night of the Scarecrow
City of the Living Dead

Also I may also watch "Island of the Lost Souls" (1932) which is available in eight 10-minute parts on YouTube. This was one of the very few "101 Horror Films You Must See Before You Die" that I hadn't seen, but it's not available on DVD.

In order to facilitate my need to pack and get things together for my Atlanta trip, I requested (and got) October 1st off.

Looks like I will have some time during the day to get in 1, maybe 2 flicks before leaving for my game that night.

Bob, you have Human Centipede on your list, thats such a neat movie. Not the strongest of plots, but the concept is so great, really worth watching.

I am asking friends to give it to me for the holidays, so i will have the BD but not until December. Enjoy!!!

Told the wife that we are doing this, and she is none too pleased. She said I have to watch romantic comedies every night in November / December

The Human Centipede is a disturbing film -- those actresses put up with some crazy S***.

Dark Night of the Scarecrow........ooooh, I remember that one from way back in high school and if I recall, it scared the **** out of me. We used to joke about how "Bubba didn't do it" all the time. Consider it added to my list.

Triangle is a cool movie, I'm positive that you will enjoy it. I actually ended up watching it twice within a few days because it's a serious mind-boggler.
