After watching the excellent Prisoners last nite, I gave Lovely Molly a try...

All I can say is: been there, done that.

The first half hour was such a snoozefest I had to Oink It.

The past few days I watched a couple of horror movies, first was a Fangoria Presents flick called the InHuman Resources. Kinda of reminiscent of the Saw movies comes this fun film of a killer boss in a office of would be victim employees. Some decent practical effects and a cameo featuring Tom Savini. Not as polished as the original Saw but worth the watch. The second movie I watched was Pulse, which I haven't seen since it came out in 2006. I prefer the Japanese original story but this film isn't bad and of course I bought this because it has some really tremendous BASS at the end! The sound really makes this film tense as the 'Pulse' of the bass cues that something is about to happen. Love the cautionary tale that the director puts out there. Worth a buy at $8.00 just to feel that bass!

Thanks, 'SlipZ!

I haven't seen Pulse yet, but I love to give the ol' SVS a workout! LFE in horror is always welcome when done effectively. I still don't know what to make of David Lynch's Inland Empire as a movie, but the LFE was so memorably brutal, I felt like I'd been through the wringer by the time the movie was over!

"Plus One" (or "+1" depending on how you search for it) is a supernatural sci-fi movie with scenes that were probably including to get Oink to watch. I watched it on Netflix WI last night. It's about a group of college kids who go to a party held by one of their friends and mysteriously they wind up confronting duplications of themselves. It's actually hilarious at points and very deep at others as they literally confront themselves. Four duplicated strippers.

I think you will like the bass in Pulse and it could be one for Halloween. I need to check out Inland Empire, I know you are in for a weird ride with David Lynch.

Well it has been an exceptionally dry winter for Portland, so you know THE END IS NIGH. biggrin.gif

I did John Carpenter's The Ward last night. It's not that it was bad, just so lame? Felt more like an afternoon special than an R rated horror movie that it was billed as. Granted, I will sit 88 minutes for Amber Heard and Lindsey Fonseca any time, but would have been nice if it was a real horror movie. This is not your Father's John Carpenter movie... smile.gif

The projectile vomiting adds a touch of class.

I like having a good scare once in a while but my ex-wife hates being scared. I once hid behind an open door and waited for her to enter the room. All I did was walk out into the room and follow very closely behind her. I didn't yell boo or do anything to her, I just waited for her to realize I was there. When she finally heard me behind her she quickly spun around and I got smacked in the head. I couldn't help laughing through the pain of a boxed ear, and I think the laughing made her angry more than the fright. It was made very clear that I will never ever do that again.

Prisoners is def on my short list. I gotta tell you though Oink, you're doing yourself a serious disservice by giving up so quickly on movies. This is not to say that you would've enjoyed Lovely Molly anyway, but I can assure you that you missed all of the most powerful scenes. I mean, some movies "appear" to be rehashed efforts at first glance and others are intentionally slow and often times don't reveal their hand until well past the halfway point. For me, my first impressions with movies frequently change into a totally different opinion by the time its over. Sometimes they go from bad to good and other times vice versa........ To each their own though, I suppose. To be honest, I'd put myself on the other end of the spectrum as I probably stick with movies too long at times hoping for that one powerful scene or maybe just some good T & A. wink.gif I will admit to a rare oink that happened the other night though. Wreck It Ralph. Not to say that it was even a bad movie, we just weren't in the mood for it that night.

My thoughts exactly on The Ward. Very soap opera like. Its been a couple of years but IIRC, the frequent fade to black moments when changing scenes were horribly amateur. No amount of eye candy could fix ths one.

Finally got to my NF flicks.

The best was Big Ass Spiders!
Had something of a Sharknado goof to it, not quite as good but worth a rental.

Detention of the Dead was a Breakfast Club/Zombie Apocalypse mash up.
It held my attention a bit, although nothing really special here.

Caught the 1993 Body Snatchers. I'm a fan of these pod people flicks in the same way zombie movies hold a mirror up to society. This one is not overly scary or fast paced but I still enjoy it. Something about the crowd pointing and screaming at non pod people always reminds me of people bogged down in binary choices because. as we all know, no third choice exists.

I like this version as well as the 50's and 70's version!

Not exactly horror but likely true horror Prisoners delivers that kind of terror that parents fear. Great cast and pace of movie but it is one that I will probably only watch once.
