I noticed Cockneys vs Zombies is available on Netflix WI now. I think it had a positive review from someone here back in October.

From me.
I think it's a lot of fun and a perfect double feature with Shaun of the Dead.

Not much horror lately, and what I have done has been a mixed bag. Did Stoker last night. Not horror. Probably well done, for what it is, but seemed like it should have been darker, or more graphic with what was there. Instead, it felt like Alice in wonderland. The ending was fun, but did not really add up for me...

"Dark Touch" is a weird Irish supernatural horror film. Sort of reminded me a bit of "Children of the Damned". Available on NF WI.

Is this a monster movie or a "house possessed" one?

Neither. Some have compared it to a mix of "Carrie" and "Children of the Damned." It starts out like a child abuse movie and then goes supernatural. Some complain it was a "little slow" and "confusing". It is certainly different.

As I was browsing my movies yesterday, I came across a cheapo blu-ray we bought when a local movie store was closing down. The Informers. I've watched it one other time, but that was before I knew who Amber Heard was. Its not a horror movie at all, but I figured since there has been plenty of talk about Miss Heard lately, I would let folks know that if you were ever curious to see her "goods"......this movie would give you several opportunities to do so. ;-) The movie itself needs a ton of work, but she certainly doesn't.

In other news, I caught Would You Rather on HBO last night. Its a movie about a group of people who attend a dinner in hopes of gaining a substantial sum of money from a mysterious foundation to get them out of their unique financial crises. Little do they know that they are unknowingly participating in a game of "would you rather" that forces them to turn on each other in order to survive (and win). Not perfect by any means, but certainly an entertaining watch with some solid acting. Some folks here may enjoy it.

The Amber Heard movie must be the one which is based on a novel by the writer of "American Psycho." I recall the commentary on that movie that the director was nervous about shooting his first nude scene and the logistics of a closed set but then the actors just strolled out in the nude. I guess by then they figured if anyone in the world could see them nude why worry about the crew. The same writer also wrote for a recent film starring Lindsay Lohan. Speaking of nudity I finally caught Wynorski's "Cheerleader Massacre" on NF WI. biggrin.gif

I watched a 3 episode BBC zombie series on DVD called "In The Flesh" tonite:

If you take your Zombies to be worth nothing more than faking the consumption of cattle entrails, this isn't your movie.
The premise here is during a world-wide outbreak of zombieism medical science finds a drug that can control the urges of the contaminated to the point where they can be re-integrated back into society.
Of course, this isn't necessarily welcomed by the uninfected and nastiness ensues....

I enjoyed this slow burn of a thriller.
This is something of a metaphor for the immigration into Great Britain during the last few decades and the resentment at the village level, as well as allegory of the those who reject others out of hand and the consequences there of.

BTW, nothing is better than a good zombie prank:

Apparently, it was picked up.

From Wikipedia:

In the Flesh is a three-part BBC supernatural drama series which began airing on BBC Three on 17 March 2013. The show was created and written by Dominic Mitchell. It is set after "The Rising", the show's take on a zombie apocalypse, and focuses on a re-animated teenager Kieren Walker as he comes back into the local community.

A second, extended series of the show has been commissioned, to be broadcast in 2014.

Yep, and, normally, when they can't conform and revert back to their natural, degenerate, urges all hell breaks loose against the common, good man of civilization. Is a good lesson why anything different, or tainted, is wrong.

Is even a common theme in horror movies for those on the good side. Once a character has taken too grave of a wound, or committed a mistake that would be hard to live with, you know they will die soon as would be too messy to have them around cluttering up the tidy ending.

Did The Colony the other night and they predictably followed this theme.

I am about 400 feet up Cooper mtn and had about 5 inches or so? Hard to tell with the wind and drifts. Barely made it home in my car early yesterday afternoon before the hills got too slick but took the suv in to work this morning and no problems.
Supposed to get another 3+ inches (a full Cabo tongue.gif) this afternoon.

We had wrecks all around my neighborhood with cars and school buses. Too hilly for non 4x4's to be driving around in the snow. Kids are loving it though, best snow in five years. biggrin.gif

Worth an $8 HD rental on Amazon? I must've missed it on BBC America but don't recall it listed unless it played in October onward after I cut the cable.

I liked "The Fades" too.

Not horror but pulp movie fans might enjoy Uwe Boll's remake the 1950s film "Suddenly" which is now on NF WI. Watched it last night. Fun to see it updated to our modern times and complexities of a President coming to a small town.

I'm beginning to wonder if our modern times are becoming so horrific and apocalyptic that screen writers are having a tough time coming up with anything to trump it. wink.gif

The snow is still coming down pretty hard here.
The weather forecast is calling for more snow AND ice thru the weekend.eek.gif

I dunno, 8 bucks might be pushing it.
If you wish to see it, I can loan you the DVD.

It's not really a big horror scarefest and some folks might be put off by that.
Is it a well done piece of work?
Yes, it is.

I really liked his Assault on Wall Street.
A gutsy, terrific gem of a movie.
