There are two Redbox kiosks at the shopping center about a block (as the crow flies) away from me. I usually get a disc from one of those. One in the supermarket had a bad card reader on it which finally got replaced so I seldom reserved with that machine. A block away from there a gas station has one then Walmart down the street (it did have two) and the Luckys store further down the street has two kiosks. Then going up the street from here the other way one gas station has one and both nearby Safeway stores each have a kiosk and so does Walgreens. At that I may be missing a couple others, need to look at their map again.

I used to rent at Hollywood Video until they closed. Rented little from Blockbuster but of course now they're gone now. Over 10 years ago I rented from a friend's rental shop in Pleasant Hill and he got all kinds of titles (also broke street so Friday's were fun). He got tired of selling "buggy whips."

This is a B+ movie all the way. Zoe Bell is awesome and you have a couple of great cameos. Gritty and raw at times this movie walks a line between horror and action and when it goes where it wants it doesn't disappoint. Plenty of gore and brutality without showing everything. The setup is simple and effective. It's a great mashup of Bloodsport and exploitation women in prison flicks. This isn't a martial arts movie it's a brawler and a damn good one. If you enjoyed Death Proof you'll dig this.

I had the RB movie elves make a Carrie (2013) disc for me yesterday. I remember seeing negative reviews of this one but I liked it. I need to make sure it gets back to the elf shop today since we have a nor'easter rolling in tonight. Another 10-14 inches of wet snow. rolleyes.gif

It wasn't terrible and had a few cool ideas. It's biggest issue was lack of nudity and being too soft on the hipsters from a bullying standpoint. The original did that really well.

I never did see The Purge, looks like i should!!!

On another note, just talking about Dead Snow has given me the urge to watch it again!! I havent watched a horror movie since October if you can believ e that!!

I still got Black Christmas on the DVR, next time the wifey is out of the house i gotta watch that too.

Wow, Walking Dead had better ratings than the Beatles 50th Anniversary show, that surprised me. I watched the Beatles show, DVR'ed Walking Dead.

never take life seriously

What? He missed the part in the middle that you saw coming at the beginning and the ending you saw coming, uh, at the beginning...

Bullying seems to be a bigger issue in schools these days then when I was in school.

Netflix WI has added "Haunter" and "The Haunting of Helena". Not horror but something Oink might like is the British thriller "Closed Circuit" which I watched on BD last night.

Yeah getting pushed down for not having the right shoes is nothing compared to being set on fire on your doorstep over pokemon.

Good luck with that. Byzantium has been sitting a long while for me.

On the other hand, Riddick released yesterday, NF, and showed up today.

Well guess what, Haunter isn't available in Canada at the moment, at all. Might go for an amazon blind buy but I'm still not sure. I ended up renting The Counselor instead!

I watched it last night on Netfilx and liked it. It's a different take on a ghost story as Abigail Breslin ("Little Miss Sunshine") plays a ghost in a family of ghosts haunting a house. Stephen McHattie also stars. May be a little too artsy for some horror fans but the chills are definitely there. Four missing ghosts.

Haunter arrived today....will try to get to it tonite.

BTW, if anyone is interested in the new French zombie series The Returned, the BD is 20 bucks at DVD Planet (as opposed to 35 at Amazon).smile.gif
It appears there are 8 episodes spread over 3 disks.

I stopped collecting a long while back unless it is something like "Strange Wilderness" or "Cinderella Liberty" that I have a connection with. But we do have a shop downtown that sell used DVDs and I picked up a rare David Lynch DVD for $2.50. Lowest price at Amazon for it used is $40 and top price (probably sealed) is $400. I told the guys at the shop they have rare DVDs sometimes (though the majority are mass market titles probably not even worth $2.50). They just don't want to hassle looking things up.

I still have a box full of LDs some which are $100+ special editions. Was I a fool back then. biggrin.gif

You are right, this movie wasn't bad at all. Although the first act was toned down compared to the OG movie and I really thought Chloe came into the character by the last act which was pretty cool. Julianne Moore was fantastic in this film!
