Awesome! From time to time, I find myself looking behind my chair or down the hall when certain effects come from the surrounds or if the house is making noises. Creeps me out but I absolutely love it.

Love it when horror pokes fun at real world situations. Kids are so funny that they believe EVERYTHING revolves around them. (Granted it usually does. smile.gif)

A few years ago we were at a triple A baseball game for the 4th of July with some friends and their kids. My youngest was 3 at the time. For the 7th inning stretch the PA announcer admonishes the crow to sing happy birthday to AMERICA. So the crowd starts singing and my youngest, whose name is ERICA, is all excited and yelling to our group. "They are singing to ME. ERICA." Eventhough her birthday was over a month away she still assumed it HAD to be for her. We just went with it and she thought it was cool to have 10,000+ people singing to her. LOL

Totally. Some of my favorites are when the other speakers go quiet and just one of the surrounds has an effect or it dances around like that. We watched Potter six over the weekend and there was a breaking glass effect on one of the side surrounds and it TOTALLY sounded like glass was breaking IN THE ROOM. We all looked. LOL.

A bit along the line of "Alyce Kills" is another LA indie movie "Contracted" which explores new frontiers in toilet gore. I won't give it high marks because the ending is like they ran out of money. It's available on NF WI.

Deadgirl is truly terrifying in the way it highlights teen boys.

It gets pretty high marks and was like they had zero money. Comparable flicks would include Excision, Deadgirl, Teeth, and The Returned.

It's easily one of the better lower budget titles I've seen lately. By better I mean gross and alien like tampons are to real men. smile.gif

Watched the first 2 episodes of the French series The Returned....I'm hooked.

Wonderfully moody and atmospheric.
In that regard, it reminds me of the excellent Swedish film Let The Right One In, and like it, there is a mystery at the core.

I fell asleep on "Bad Milo" before it was finished last night. It's kind of a 80's "Gremlins" style dark comedy horror film. It's on NF WI.

It's a ridiculous premise for a movie, but I liked it.

I watched a film shot in your neck of the woods a couple weeks ago with Chloe Sevigny in it. Some of it was shot in Bend (I suspect the downtown scenes). It's supposed to be a "supernatural film" but was rather "meh."

It's worth a $1.... maybe. I didn't say it was any good. I watch some of these things just to see where they go with the story. But you might get a kick out of seeing the local scenery in the film.

In other news, those with Hulu+ might like seeing Rebecca De Mornay playing an aging rock star mum with two daughters in the horror thriller "Apartment 1303". It got all of 2.7 stars on IMDB so beware but it does have some chills in it. The "local scenery" in this case is Detroit.

Phantasm 5.

CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 75
Quote:
Last year we wrote up a post highlighting 10 planned horror movie sequels that we're still waiting to see, and Phantasm 5 was one of the films that made the list. 1998 saw the release of Phantasm 4: Oblivion, and ever since then fans have been eager to see the continuing adventures of the Tall Man and his deadly silver spheres, with a fifth installment being the subject of endless rumors and discussions in recent years.

Franchise creator/director Don Coscarelli has remained tight-lipped about the future of Phantasm, and that future has been shrouded in uncertainty since the moment the credits rolled on Phantasm 4, and we were left off on a cliffhanger of an ending.

Today, the fog of uncertainty has been lifted...

The above poster comes to us courtesy of Aint It Cool News, and they say that they have 100% confirmed that it is indeed legit, and not merely a piece of fan art. Though the site is apparently not at liberty to reveal any details about Phantasm: Ravager, in regards to plot or a release date, they say that it may be ready for us sooner than we think, suggesting that perhaps the film has been shot, and kept a secret during the production process.

An original draft for the fifth installment was set in a desolate future and centered on hi-tech troops attempting to put an end to the Tall Man once and for all, though we have no way of knowing if the upcoming sequel has anything whatsoever to do with that concept. We'll be sure to report more as we learn it!

Finished The Returned last night.
FAN-F_CKING-TASTIC!smile.gif

I can't recommend this highly enough.
This series is in the class of HBO and Showtime's best.
It's about great writing, acting, cinematography, and storytelling.cool.gif
The American re-boot (Resurrection) is NOT in the same league (or universe) as this.

BTW, it ain't a gorefest.wink.gif

Of course, it should....it's a TV series.wink.gif

I just checked about next season and there has been a delay.
Filming won't start until the 2nd half of this year, with a 2015 release date.frown.gif

Got Hulu? If you do they are showing season 2 of "Line of Duty" which though not horror is one of the best UK series around. If finished the season last night. Problem with a lot of American television series is the can't just do a story like "Line of Duty" does. They feel that Americans expect some plush in the production and emphasize that over story. That's why I enjoy a good indie film over a big budget Hollywood production.
